Students should be able to use sliders to vary

-number of people in family
-starting amount
-days of journey
Model will create a graph and students will have to determine what needs to change so family survives.

Basic Coding in Algebra Readiness

Since there are no high school content standards for a pre-algebra course, we incorporate 6 through 8th grade CCSSM. We also teach basic coding which includes arithmetic, basic coordinate graphing, simple inequalities, compound inequalities, and linear relationships. The following projects are for learning coding skills in Netlogo.

Create a Flag

After skimming power point, code a German flag WITH students.
1) Have them create a German flag on graph paper that is scaled from -16 < x < 16 and
-16 < y < 16: this is their Netlogo world
2) Code it with them and have them WRITE code on the same paper as flag
3) They will then draw another flag of their choice on another graph paper and they will code on their own. Be sure to give them a day 1 cheat sheet. You could even code a couple of the "flags" or backgrounds in PowerPoint.
