What did you learn this week? What does your student data reflect about learning in your classrooms? What do you need to do to take care of yourself this weekend?

I learned a lot more about how to cater to different kinds of learners in my classes. I also learned a lot about scaffolding lessons and beginning to position students to be fully equipped for success. My data reflects improvement with some students and some that declined. I want to be able to get through to them and figure out what works for them, even in the last week. I need to sleep and not talk this weekend.

My students are growing and I didn't think that would happen this week. I can easily tell that some days students are distracted by the work they turn in. I feel that my students don't feel tangible consequences for their lack of classwork. My student's really enjoyed Desiree's baby and they made great connections to the text, although that didn't come out in the quick write.

I'm learning more about how to balance my expectations with my planning. I also have learned to begin scaffolding the week to really set my students up to be successful on Fridays with their essays and throughout the week with various IAs. I need to get some serious rest this weekend and really prep as much as I can to head into the last week with energy and enthusiasm to finish strong. - Becca

I learned that student interest and engagement makes a huge difference. They seemed actually interested and it made the whole week better. Every student worked well on their essays and students who sometimes struggle to engage were asking questions and caring about the essay they were going to turn in. I also learned that being clear and consistent with consequences helps the classroom move tremendously. My students and I had a good week. Not perfect, but it was good. I need to key in on whatever it was that caused that and try to replicate it. This weekend, I just need to make sure I get some sleep and get ahead of the week as far as lesson plans and materials.

This week I learned more about my students and how they learn best. This allowed me to adjust each lesson to cater to my student's needs. To take care of myself this weekend I will go to a 5K and take naps throughout the day.

My student data is reflecting an increase in essay grades, which shows me that my students are understanding the content and learning how to put what they have learned, on paper. They are also improving on their listening skills, as well.

This weekend, I plan to separate myself from anything that will add stress to my life. If I end up in my room and sleeping most of the weekend, then that is my body telling me that it needs the rest, and I am going to listen.

I felt like I had a pretty good week, but I don't think my essay scores necessarily reflect that. I want to work on finding a way to help my students connect what we have already learned in the week and the prewriting with the actual essay. I also had several students who missed days of class. It's incredibly hard to have them jump back in with missing so often. I need to create an environment where the kids want to come to school everyday.

I learned how to tone down my over-planing a little bit to accommodate changes that might happen throughout the week. As a result, I am able to be more of my true authentic self because I have had less or a tight schedule and I can spend more time bonding with students as we are working on lessons. I need to get some planning done, sleep, and spend some time away from TU.

This week, I learned that progress is more important than perfection. Even though the text was slow to get through, seeing my students reactions to the ending was super fulfilling. And hearing them get angry at the injustices in the story was a cool moment where I realized that they are actually the most powerful advocates for themselves. I'm not sure if the quantitative data (essay scores) will reflect that, but the qualitative data (exit tickets, my one-on-one conversations with them, class discussions, etc) definitely do reflect progress. This weekend I want to get ahead with planning so that I can focus the majority of my energy on showing up for class ready to have fun and learn!

I am learning to modify lessons for those learners that are struggling to write in my classroom. A lot of my students need some serious modifications. My student data shows me that there is very small growth happening. One of my students is doing EXTREMELY well, some are staying the same, and some get distracted and do worse. It's really just kind of discouraging because I just want all of my students to be growing! Also, some of the data doesn't fully reflect how much knowledge my students have.
