The story Crenshaw by Katherine Applegate, a young boy named Jackson, his sister Robin and his mom and dad are struggling with money. This problem caused them to be faced with homelessness and Jackson and Robin were not able to go to school anymore. Even when all hope seemed lost Jackson's "Friend" Crenshaw appears and seems to make everything a lot less stressful.

In Fly Away Home by Eve Bunting there is a young boy and his father. The young boy's mom had died and they were living in an airport and cafeteria food if they had enough money. I find that this is similar to Crenshaw because they are both trying to survive on a low paycheck and bad food. Another reason I found these similar was because in both stories the groups kept trying to get payed and keep jobs for each other's benefit more than themselves.

In this article it states that we should give the homeless money. It says that even though something they could have done wrong may be the reason, if we were in this situation that we would have wanted to be treated as equals.

The Last stop on market street is about a young boy and his grandma. He rides the bus with all of his friends and wonders why he has no IPod or why he has to get of of the bus on the dirty part of town. His grandma struggles with telling him what is really going on. I think that two stories are similar because they are both struggling with homelessness.

I chose this movie because it related to Crenshaw. In the movie the father and son got evicted from their apartment. This leaves them alone and vulnerable. But Chris (the dad) refuses to make the worst of the situation.
