Sadly, there were none of these things found. When The Mousetrap's rights were being finalized, it was decided that there could not be a movie unless The Mousetrap had stopped performing for a minimum of 6th months in the West End theatre. Because of this, and because of The Mousetrap's astounding run time, there has never been a movie made based on the play.

This show was written at the end of World War II, and it provided a distraction from the effects of the war. It was described that the atmosphere inside the Ambassador's Theatre was completely different than the outside atmosphere of the world, and a lot of people commended the play for that very reason.

In the beginning, Agatha Christie wrote "The Mousetrap" as a commission for Queen Mary in 1947, who was a Christie fan. Queen Mary was King George V's consort. Originally, The Mousetrap was called "Three Blind Mice", and it was based off of the real life story of Dennis O'Neill, who was abused to the point of death by a foster parent and his wife. The play was originally 45 minutes, but the approval of the public lead Christie to elaborate on the play. After it was discovered that another author had written their own play named "Three Blind Mice," Agatha Christie's son-in-law suggested that it be renamed to "The Mousetrap" in inspiration of Shakespeare's play "Hamlet." After the play was renamed, it ran from 1952 until 2020, making it one of the longest running plays in history. It jumped theaters at one point, going from The Ambassadors Theatre to the St. Martin's Theatre where it has run ever since. There have been a few performances in other theatres, but none as long as the St. Martin's performances.

The show was meant to be confusing, as it was intended to provide the audience with an unusual whodunnit that was not what they were familiar with.
