550-600 words: Analysis – Look carefully at the information (behaviours) and link to theories of behaviour.  Discuss what these behaviours might possibly mean, what may be at the foundation of these behaviours, e.g. influences, circumstances. This section addresses Criteria 1 - Knowledge and understanding of behaviour and Criteria 2 - Critique and analysis of the case study.

 

550-600 words: Findings – Use the information and your understandings of behaviours to discuss and consider a range of strategies and interventions that might support the student. This section addresses Criteria 2 - Critique and analysis of the case study and also Criteria 3 - Application of strategies for classroom practice. 

 

200-300 words: Recommendations – Applying theory to practice. Recommendations for action. This section addresses Criteria 3 - Application of strategies for classroom practice. 

o   consider your analysis and findings to inform this last section

o   after weighing up the discussed options for strategies and interventions, make your final recommendations on what you believe will best support the child

o   there should not be any brand new information in this section, therefore references are not compulsory

o   dot points are acceptable in this section

Also important for new and potential teachers in Victoria to know that, over the next two years, the Department is helping Victorian schools to implement School-wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) which is an evidence-based framework for preventing and responding to student behaviour. SWPBS aims to create a positive school climate, a culture of student competence and an open, responsive management system for all school community members. It includes analysis of data in professional learning teams, implementation of evidence based practices and organisational systems for establishing safe, purposeful and inclusive school and classroom learning environments while providing the individual behaviour and learning supports needed to achieve academic and social success for all students.
