Being vulnerable doesn’t always have to be something that is bad but something that can connect people together because at the end of the day, we are humans who feel a lot of emotions.

I struggle a lot with high-functioning anxiety and this was a way to help me feel like I wasn't doing anything in the summer. I find that doing crafts and paying more attention to the way I look and dress is my new form of self-care. Long earrings just elevate my look and compliment my hair, that is why I continuously make new designs. I have found that many people love the look with long earrings. I met the lovely ladies in these pictures my first semester at UF in 2018. I became friends with each of them as individuals and we all ran into each other throughout our first two years, and then all ended up in the same cohort and quickly became a group that works efficiently and positively together. I am so thankful for these ladies! The top picture is our first day of ProTeach and the bottom picture was our "last first day". Nonetheless, everyday I make coffee. I'm Colombian. My parents were born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, but they were not always there. My father lived for most of his young life in the family coffee bean farm, La Aurora, located about 2 hours out of the capital, with hundreds of acres of land. In the 80s, my family was left with no choice but to abandon the farm due to intense drug cartel and guerrilla violence that was plaguing the town and threatening my family daily. To this day, it's my family's biggest regret and pain. One day, I will return to the land that belongs to my family. During this pandemic, one of the hardest things was not being able to see family around the holidays and spend time together. This photo is of my Popaw, Momaw, and all my cousins (& new baby cousin) on my Dad's side of the family. We are all extremely close and even have a large family groupme of all the cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. and we rename it based on what is going on in our lives and make our groupme cover photo funny memories or photos of one another. Making memories and spending time with family is something that is so important to me and a lot of my family members have driven my passion for education. My cousin Alonzo, all the way on the far right, was adopted and has Autism and he is a large reason for my pursuit of a master's in Special Education and my passion for inclusion. Making memories with my family and always trying to stay connected with them is super important to me.
