Igneous rocks are rocks that are formed when hot molten rock crystallizes and solidifies. The formation of an extrusive igneous rock differs from that of an intrusive one is that the intrusive forms from magma that cools slowly beneath the earths surface while the extrusive forms from magma erupting into the earth surface, after which it cools quickly thanks to the exposure outside.
