The first part of the trip will be from Newcastle to Port Macquarie which takes about 2 hours and 50 minutes, so a break in between is needed. A possible break location is Coopernook. Optional to stay in Port Macquarie for a few days.
From Port Macquarie the driver will drive to Coffs Harbour, via the Pacific Highway A1. This will take about 1 hour and 40 minutes so no break is needed. 
After Coffs Harbour the driver will drive to Byron Bay. This will take about 3 hours via the Pacific Highway A1. - they have enough oil or fuel

- make sure fuel gauge and temperature gauge are working correctly
- check that spare wheel is secured and in good condition
- check under vehicle for any obvious leaks while parked
- make sure all lights and indicators are working 
- car has had service with a comprehensive safety
