So we started to work on it and they had it down musically and we started thinking about how to perform it as a radio play, but they stepped up and grabbed the drama students to put together a very impressive staging of the entire piece. From the first moments of the earthquake, the school acted as a community, supporting each other and being there for one another. 

While the earth was still shaking, I could see some students comforting their friends. Afterwards, with all the mobility problems, students and even faculty that could not return home, were taken by others in the community.  I was in charge of "pregnant women", my wife and another colleague, who came and stayed at our place. 

Then the YIS community continue showing their sense of community by collecting, sorting and looking for ways to send usable items to those in need. Coming to school with the items I had collected, I was surprised to find the closed school buzzing with activity, with students, parents and faculty sorting the collected items, and with the first floor full of these items.

Since my boy was born shortly after the earthquake, several colleagues, parents and students came to visit at the hospital, and even brought as present the gift of water, a more needed commodity during those uncertain days.
