According to the article "Stable Food Supply in Mesopotamia," people would wander around in search of food, but when they found Mesopotamia, they didn't have to anymore because Mesopotamia just so happened to be in between the Tigress and Euphrates river, also known as the fertile crescent. "They were always chasing the right environmental conditions for farming so they wouldn’t run out of food. But Sumer’s unique location and farming techniques enabled people to finally settle in one place. They continued to grow food there for thousands of years."

Having a steady food supply in the fertile crescent allowed the first Mesopotamian people to settle down and make a true civilization. The Mesopotamian civilization is completely built off of food supply. That is the first priority. This shows that even if Mesopotamia has every other element of society, they would still need to move around a lot, implying that food supply is the first and foremost in the elements of society.

In the "Food Supply and Technology" slideshow, it's explained that the Mesopotamian people would hunt for food, moving with the animals, in non-secure places. "With the ability to grow their own food, they no longer had to rely on hunting and gathering. This change allowed people to settle in one place and establish permanent homes. Over time, this led to the growth of small villages and eventually larger communities."
