In chapter 2 Bud said he would choose the little girls over the 12 year old Todd and they went to the foster homes.when Bud got there he went to sleep the boy Todd shoved a Ticonderoga and reach to the R and Bud got mad and he slapped Todd and they sent Bud to the shed.

Bud got sent to the shed in the amoses house and they lock and Todd lied there was vampire bats and Bud got the rake and slapped the "vampire bat" but it wasn't a vampire bat it was a hornets nest and Bud got stung a bunch and he tried to bust through the door but there was fish head and the fish heads stabbed his hand then he escaped the shed and he's on the lam.

Bud is an orphan kid.He got sent to a foster home and his foster brother started a fight.Also Todd Bud's foster brother shoved a pencil and complained that Bud started it but he did not.His foster parents sent him to a shed and he escaped the shed he felt the water and they had warm water so he filled it up to the rim and he went to Todd's room and he poured the water on his pajama pants and Todd peed his pants and Bud ran and now Bud said "he who laughs last laughs best"and now he's on the lam.

Bud is in the library he is going to the mission but when he got there he was 15 minutes late and he got in trouble by a staff and he was about to get hit by the staff but a random family saved him by pretending that he was there parent and family and they smack him then they got there food and sat down but his pretend"Mom" had a little envelope that was brown sugar and they all shared it then they said goodbye and he went back and now he's looking for Ms.Hill

Bud left Hooverville to get food at the mission but didn't see his pretend family and ate alone.He went back to the library he told the librarian if he could get the book of the map she said kindly yes. Then she said if he wanted a suprise he lied and said yes. he returned the book and she gave him a book about wars because he liked the gore then he read it. He left to go to grand rapids.

Bud went to the library and he got to read the book about the civil war.But he doesn't read it he just looks at the gore from the book. He read all day and he snuck out. Then he went to walk and he is going to grand rapids. He got caught by a man and Bud drove with the mans car and then Bud and the man were driving and he fell asleep.

Bud woke up and he was in his knickers because they wanted Bud to have new clothes. Because they were all ripped then he out on his new clothes and went to the kitchen because they wanted to give him breakfast before he leaves. He always likes peace and quiet when he eats because the orphanage had strict rules about talking. The grandchildren were talking about family questions and different stuff and the little girl starts singing to Bud he did not like the song and he told lefty lewis that his daughter made paincakes and not pancakes.He laughed and she laughed it off.

Bud is on the road with lefty louse and he is taking Bud to see Herman E. Calloway. But he was lying and he didn't know if Herman E. Calloway was his father lefty louse and said he sent a telegram that said Bud was okay. Then when they got there Bud said he wanted to go alone but lefty louse said okay but he had to keep it until he came out he said okay he went to talk to him and he didn't he came back and lied that he was looking for him.

They are now outside of the cabin and they are about to go to a restaurant called the sweet pea this is Buds first time going to a restaurant. Because they are in the great depression. before they are asking Bud a lot of questions to Bud and they said how his mother died he said that she died a peaceful death and it happened fast. They are starting to get in the car.

They have arrived at the restaurant and when he gets there he describes the smell of the restaurant he says that it smells really delicious that each thing combined smells really good. He meets a lady named Ms.Thomas she is being really nice to him and she says he's super polite and she sits with him. She orders him a meal and the waiter says that he's polite also. Once he gets his food he demolished it and Ms. Thomas tells him that he's home now and he starts crying.

Bud is at the grand calloway station. Ms.Thomas showed Bud the room that he was going to sleep in. And he put his suitcase on the table so he could sleep. he saw the picture of a horse but he was scared because he thought that there was a monster. Ms.Thomas told Bud that this was a little girl's room he asked where the girl was. She said that the girl was GONE he said" uh oh that meant the girl was dead". He got even more scared that she said the girl was gone. he also heard Herman E. calloway fighting with Ms. Thomas and he went to sleep.

Bud said he woke up like fighting a tiger he heard Herman and Ms. Thomas fighting over the same thing from last night. He went to the bathroom to use it and he is not used to using an inside bathroom then he went to the kitchen and he realized that he slept in until 12:00 pm. Ms.Thomas told him he is going to stay. But he has to do chores and work around the house and maybe go to school but he has to pick up his own weight. Then he has to maybe play in his band.

He saw that the dusky devastators of the depression were singing and he went to look and he said that all of them were really good. But when Ms.Thomas started he said she was the best out of all of them. Then she rubbed his head and said you've done a great job at clean it looks sparkly. He said that all of them he combined he couldn't tell who was the best.

Bud and the dusky devastators are in a car because they are going home to the log cabin and they are teasing Mr.C. And they were laughing and talking and he was grumpy. Then when they got there he saw that Mr. C dropped a rock and Bud told him he wanted to see the rock. Mr. C said no then Bud said I have rocks like that. Then Mr. C said why are you snooping in the closet and he took the rock. Then Mr. Jimmy took the other rocks. They asked Bud what was his mothers name and he said Angela Janet and Mr. C started wobbling and tumbling down to the grand calloway station and locked himself into his room. Bud thought it was his father but Mr. Jimmy said that it was his daughter that meant Mr. c was Bud's grandfather.
