Generalization is basically summing up a long paragraph. It gives you the general idea. He summarizes the long stanzas of the ants and how he describes them. Throughout the 2 pages we read, we got the main idea from it and that is generalization.

This shows the relationship between the ants and how they will fight stronger when they are offended or hurt emotional. Humans also act the same.

4.) The paragraph would be completely different without adjectives. Without adjectives you won't be able to describe anything. It Thoreau wouldn't be able to describe how the ants were at war. How the war was like humans fighting a war.

The commentary that Thoreau makes about society is that we are no different then these ants. When it comes to the survival of ants as a species, they are very similar if not the same as humans. When different species of ants compete for dominance, its all out war. Humans are the exact same way. We as a species compete with each other for power. To sum it up, we're no different than the ants that Thoreau describes.

1- Generalization is taking something more specific and making it more borader or universal. Thoreau describes the actions and qualities of the ants and compares them to humans. He generalizes it by assuming or making the statement that all animals are alike and have the same instincts. This generalization is a good contribution to the theme of the story.

The absence of adjectives throughout the story would result to cluelessness. This story heavily relies on adjectives because they give an exact description of Thoreau's experience. The adjectives are also important because even removing simple adjectives such as "red" and "black" because these colors are the root of how the ants are different.

Henry Thoreau makes the generalization that all things in nature, are the same in the way they think and act. He believed that humans are the same as both animals and plants. In the way we think and act, I can definitely see why he would come to the conclusion he did.

Thoreau describes the two different groups of ants by using color and size, he also describes the difference in strength. Thoreau also discusses the ferocity of the insects. If Thoreau wouldn't have witnessed this instance then he would still believe that nature and humans are more different than he imagined.
