project MK ULTRA was basically a form of interrogation. it consistent of brain washing, psychological torture, and identify drugs that can be used during interrogation.

I think this project was important because it shows how serious the law was when it came to finding the truth.

I think this affected US citizens because some of the victims of the project had families.

the cointelpro was a time period where the FBI did a bunch of illegal and covert things. The FBI mainly surveilled, tried to infiltrate, discredit, and disrupt American political organizations.

I think this was important because it shows how much of an impact the American political organizations were having to end up getting the FBI involved.

I think this affected the US citizens because this showed that the FBI will perform any sort of action to try to ruin whoever or whatever they want too.

Iran Contra affair

to quickly sum it all up, senior officials in the ronald reagan administration secretly sold firearms to Iran between 1981-1986.

I think this was important because supposedly Iran was an enemy but the US secretly sold them guns which doesn't make sense.

I think this affected the US citizens because when you find out the country is supplying the enemy, you wouldn't know what to believe after that.

1990s drug trafficking and the CIA's involvement

During the late 1990s there was speculation that the CIA were the ones who began the drug trafficking or they helped spread and increase the trafficking.

I think this is important because it shows how the CIA could do whatever they want and even after it gets out to the public nothing happens to them.

I think this affected US citizens critically because the CIA was said to protect, not cause more harm.

operation cyclone

Operation cyclone was when the CIA would arm and finance the afghan mujaheddin in Afghanistan from 1979 to 1992 to try to get the Soviet union to withdraw.

I think this is important because this was one of the turning points for USA and Afghanistan, further leading to both nations creating a long term relationship.

I don't think this affected the US citizens in any bad way since it was just the CIA helping out Afghanistan so the Soviet union and withdraw.

operation paperclip

Operation Paperclip was a secret organization created from the US and they took more than 1600 Germans who were scientists, engineers, and technicians. These people were taken from Nazi Germany and were put to work to research on jet/jet fuel, bombs, aerodynamics, submarine tech, and aerospace medicine.

I think this is important because this operation actually led to the success of the Apollo missions to the moon.

I think this affected US citizens because its possible some citizens didnt like this movement given the fact the US had Nazi affiliations working for the US.

CIA overthrow of foreign governments

The CIA was involved in overthrowing foreign governments simply to protect the US interests/studies, mainly during the Cold War.

I think this is important because it comes to show to anybody and/or any organization will take whatever action as long as it benefits themselves or gives them the upper hand.

I think this affects the US citizens by the way the information can give closure on the US.
