-Probation officers have statutory responsibility for supervising offenders in the community, they work along side prisoners, even after their release: this helps to protect children ads it helps to ensure that those who have offended have the support available to them to ensure that they do not cause harm and offend again.
-Probation officers have the responsibility and role of having an input into child protection assessments and care conferences, this is a responsibility of probation officers as it helps to ensure that there is a procedure in case for them to follow in regards to the protection of children.

Also,  work together with social services to remove safely the child from the horrible and toxic setting he was in and put him in the care of well trusted people (foster family or relatives of the child)
