W12D1 Poetry - The Birth of Venus

Venus rises from the water, calm and slow,

Droplets from the waves dripping off her skin.

The world seems to stop as if it wants to know.

As if it wants to know about how it feels to begin.

Her hair drapes down her side like a vine on a window.

The world leans in close, unsure of what to say.

The golden locks part for her beauty to show.

Everything goes still and quiet, as they know it is a special day.

Venus didn't ask for the beauty or fame.

She had just barely learned to stand and not fall.

The ocean beckons and calls out her name.

And she listens, taking in the world and all.

Venus, like everyone, came from something vast and deep,

and we all try to make it ours, make it our world to keep.

Paint falls from the brush onto the fresh white canvas.

Each droplet carries a different story,

Although they are all from the same brush.

Some droplets are happy, some sad, some calm, and some mad.

At the end of the day, they are all paint, and all paint dries.

We try our best to live our life, because at the end of the day we all will dry.

Some might dry and slip away

Some might dry and stick and stay

But at the end of the day

We are all paint and will dry anyway.

W12D1 Poetry - Roses.

Roses are red, but duller than yesterday. Like the world's losing color, and we keep going anyway.

Not a second to mourn my wilting flowers, I'm probably why they rot.

This world has no time for your tears, put aside the empty pot.

I know they'll keep wilting tomorrow, duller and duller towards their demise.

But I'll admire them a bit longer, telling myself these lies.

Roses were red, but now the color is gone.

I'm wilting too, same as the planet I live on.
