This movement began in the Revolutionary era and made a huge difference in today's society by giving African-American's freedom and rights that all of the other citizens have.
      Some people who were apart of the movement were William Lloyd Garrison, Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth,etc. All of these peope made a huge difference in the Reform. Alcohol abuse was considered a crime to reformers. It was also the cause breakups of families, and mental illness.
 In the late 1820's, The temperance movement was started. By 1850, Maine banned the sale of alcohol and other states soon followed with similar legislation.
