Summary and Analysis:
This book is about a Jewish boy named Felix. He lived in Poland his whole life and is on a journey to find his book-keep parents after he observes the Nazis burning books from a Catholic orphanage where he stayed for 3 years and 8 months. He then finds a girl named Zelda with her dead parents in a house that is burning. They travel together and tells her stories and protects her. I chose this book for my students because I believe they would enjoy the illustrations and lessons learned throughout the text. Since there is a young boy and girl as our main characters, they could relate to them more and connect to their daily lives. I think I would use this book as a read aloud because of the complexity of topics and understandings throughout the book. I think a class discussion with questions and relations would be a great way to spread awareness of what is happening in the book.

I thought this would be a good introduction to what friendships are about. Then, throughout this unit, we would read books that relate back to how conflicts form within friendships and if the bond is strong enough to last. I think this is a little advanced, so I think fifth grade would be the proper grade level that this text should be discussed at.

Summary and Analysis:
This book is based on the authors experience during World War 2. It's about a 9-year-old Jewish girl whose world changes during the war in 1932. Her family ends up escaping Germany and moving to Switzerland. She's upset that she has to leave her friends but ends up finding happiness in the new adventure. Her family looked down upon but try to face those problems head on. This leaves the family to wonder if the Nazis will ever find them again and if they can ever find a permanent home. I chose this book because I thought this was a great way for the students to recognize the conflicts that this family went through in the book. It's important for them to understand why these conflicts rose as they left Germany. I think this would be great as a class read aloud, while turning to a partner and discussing the questions that I ask throughout the book.

In the video, it's a conversation between a teacher and his student. Throughout the video, they discussed key details and conflicts that happened in the war. I also liked this video because it was short, so it was good video to summarize the war. I could share this video with the class, and then prepare discussion questions or activities that could start the topic of World War 2.

I thought this would be a great way to use this text at the end of the lesson so the students can get an idea of what people used during the war. It includes pictures with information about the artifact under the picture. It states that it is for grade 8, but I believe this presentation is basic enough to include with younger students. It states the what and who were involved in the war and gives dates of important events that happened during the war.

Summary and Analysis: This book is about children learning to calm themselves while dealing with conflicts throughout their lives. What I like about this book is that it gives real world problems that the student might experience in their life and allows them to think of solutions as to what they can do in those situations. This book is more for younger kids, but it's a great beginner book that allows them to think about how to resolve conflicts.

I liked this book a lot because it showed that not everyone is the same as you. It's a creative way to show kids that they may like one thing, but their friends may like something totally different. This book is about accepting the differences that you might have compared to someone else.
