Different types of cultures can develop different protections from different things as a form of evolution. for example people in Africa that walk on a daily basis without shoes, have very thick skin in their feet making it harder for their feet to scar or get hurt. also when going to the Philippines, people cannot drink the tap water at all it is diseased and anyone who drinks it gets very sick and it is not fun. But to the natives, it is completely regular water. they can play in it, drink it and they never get sick. This is because after living there for their whole lives, the water doesn't even have an affect on their immune system.

What natural protection does skin provide?

skin provides natural protection against the dangers of the environment, including the sun, temperature variations, wet or dry conditions and germs. The oils secreted by skin trap foreign particles and help keep the body free from infection. You can help your skin do its job by taking good care of it. Avoid using harsh soaps that can dry or irritate your skin. Use mild cleansers that are gentle to your skin, and slather your skin with moisturizer to keep it hydrated. Also use sunscreen daily to protect the skin from the sun's UVB and UVA rays. Frequently check your skin for unusual spots or growths and see your doctor if you have any concerns about your skin.

What happens when protection fails.

For the most part the answer is the same. The protection is repaired. For example when a wall breaks you would shortly after repair it. And if you got a cut in your skin the the skin would eventually repair itself. Heres how; First comes vasoconstriction. The blood vessels leading to the wound tighten to reduce the flow of blood to the injured area. Platelets (triggered by enzymes leaked from the torn blood vessel) rush to the scene. These sticky blood cells clump to each other and then adhere to the sides of the torn blood vessel, making a plug. Clotting proteins in the blood join forces to form a fibrin net that holds the platelet plug in place over the tear, and in just a few seconds or minutes (depending on how bad the scrape is), BLEEDING STOPS, thanks to coagulation! The fibrin plug becomes a scab that will eventually fall off or be reabsorbed into the body once healing is complete.
