What can conformity do to our self esteem? ALEX

I think it depends on the circumstances. If someone was happy being on trend and received compliments having the latest fashion item, for example, then that would boost their self-esteem. Whereas if they only do it to fit in or they are scared that they may be teased if they don't then they may feel they have lost their identity which in turn would give them a lower self-esteem. I think it is more to do with the fact that a person is more likely to conform if they have a lower self-esteem.

I think you lose self-esteem if you follow conformity too much. You get so used to following other people's rules that you forget how to voice your own opinions. You get worried to what people may think of you and may not want to voice your opinions in the future.
