What does it mean to be human: In this chapter there is a weird feeling that none of the kids really know what is going to happen after they are done at hailsham
Character Development:
Kathy- She seems very intuitive now and also curious as to what is really going on at Hailsham.
Tommy- He has gotten rid of his anger issues but also seems a little confused as to why miss Lucy had told him to not worry.
Madame- She has not said anything yet but she already seems to be a mean character that obviously does not like the kids at Hailsham.
Conflict: Madame has become a problem and the kids have been thinking more about her presence at the school.

The world of children vs. adults- In this chapter this is lots of talk about adults not telling kids things. Madame is a very mysterious character that comes to the school and does not say anything.
Character Development:
Kathy- In this chapter we learn some more about Kathy and her past with her friends. She also gives us more thoughts on what she thinks is really going on.
Madame- She seems to actually be afraid of the kids at Hailsham.
Ruth- She is still a little mysterious but she seems to be a good friend of Kathys and now we know some back story to their friendship.
Conflict: The kids started to get mad at Madame being able to come in and take their best artwork with no compensation.
