The Lexile framework for reading is an educational tool that uses a measure called a Lexile to match readers with books, articles and other leveled reading resources. Readers and books are assigned a score on the Lexile scale, in which lower scores reflect easier readability for books and lower reading ability for readers.

People’s ability to engage with digital technologies is dependent upon their skills and just as importantly their confidence with technology. We know that access to technology is not enough, people need to be able to use it proficiently to maximise its effectiveness. While the internet has the potential to be of great benefit to users, it is also has potential dangers. Internet scams, viruses and cyber-bullying are just some of the online threats facing users and people with few digital skills are especially vulnerable. Now, according to ACODE, which is the Australasian Council on Open Distance and e-Learning, if technology is good, digital literacy is not going to be a problem, and they give a series of capabilities, challenges and ways to look into the future on digital literacy.
