Overall, I’m really enjoying this module. It’s relevant and interesting to what we came for, games art. I would include practical sessions:

-how to create custom skyboxes

-how to create dynamic weather

-how to use set up cinematic camera and beautiful lightning in UE5 (actually lightning is such a great topic, and it has not been covered in depth with practical lessons in class) I think there should be tasks for lightning artist practice

The studio sessions need to be better balanced with workshops, lectures and tutorials

Whilst studio sessions are good for individual feedback and project development, we have stopped being taught new content for skills development which is not ideal, as well as no lectures anymore. Individual feedback should be isolated to only certain sessions, as well as the drop in, to balance new information being taught whilst still providing personal support. Workshops and tutorials should also be intuitive to what the majority wish to learn.

The balance of personal support and being taught new information is not very well distributed at the moment

Whilst I understand that we are being taught important information on the industry we are going into, I don’t believe that this needs to be a full unit, but rather an optional or smaller section of a unit.

This unit does not have a very effective structure due to how the lectures are structured with certain information not being discussed until later in the project. A possible restructuring could be changing the lectures and seminar time slots to allow more information to be provided.

This unit could be better used for more practical work and skills development.

Love the principle of the unit and how its practiced based research (there's a lot of opportunities to explore what we want to do); however, although it is helpful to get feedback in the studio based lessons, it would be nice to have more opportunities to learn more technical skills. The lessons on shaders and LODs were incredibly helpful and even though it may not be applicable to everyone's project having that knowledge is valuable for other projects and personal skills development.

Due to how the lectures is structured depending on what topic that is being reported on, information is not accessible until much later in the unit. Additionally, while it is understandable why having the discussion led seminars is a good way to collaborate and generate group discussion, many of them have just been regurgitating information from the lectures.

It would be more beneficial to have a longer lecture, as to cover more information quicker and shorter seminars
