The author in the story pacing goes from slow to fast to fast. She makes us understand how it is moving as we read. For example it says "In surprise, he complied. She ascended. She vanished. Then she could be seen among the leafless branches of late November". This shows the author moving from slow to fast to slow in this moment.

Characterization

The mother of the author was a gymnasium who was blind folded. So when had saved her daughter for another time she was happy, but not only that she felt like herself again. Also the author was very proud and amazed at how she and her mother made it and how nobody got hurt. In the text it says " I slowly wondered what would happen if we missed the circle or bounced out of it. Then I wrapped my hands around my mother’s hands."

Camino was one of the daughters of the father who died in a plane crash. But to Camino her dad was inspirational to her and he wasn't around her more than Yahaira. When her dad died she didn't believe he really died. Yahaira in this case knew that was her dad but she didn't know how to feel because she knew he had a different family. But she also didn't think he passed away. They both didn't know each other but felt the same way about their father passing. In the text Camino says " It isn't true, you see? My father was not on that plane. I refuse."

Point of view

In the text the author uses only the 1st point of view for both Camino and Yahaira. The author tells us how they both found out about their father dying but from their point of view she never switches to 2nd or 3rd.

When in the story they say " Neighbors poor into the house" its unusual because usually people would've said came over or knocked on the door but this is figurative language because it pops out the text that they are reciving grief from other people which they don't want to be felt sorry for because they had to worry about how they are going to maintain a life with her father gone . shows of love and grief as well as betrayal, culture.

Crisis

The problem was not the religion is wasn't Jew or the Christians it. They never likes the fact the had to go to war because they land was taken. They give hate Israel was never going to get peace because of how they treat each others. In the video he had continued to give out what wasn't the problem but also told us why they always went into war and why they were never given peace because they always had violence in there state . Innocent people dying because there State can't cooperate with others." The problem is the occupation , the state of Israel will come to an end because they will never have peace " . This explains to us how they were never going to get peace because of what was going on in their state.

As the two navigate grief without their loved one, they also discover family secrets, which force them to confront love of others in its truest form. Making them understand that uncomfortable is the new normal and unavoidable.

Conflict

The conflict in the story Clap When You Land is that Camino & Yahaira father had passed away in a plane crash. Both daughters have to face grief and grow up at the same time. Their father dying has an impact on both the daughter's life and lifestyle. Camino doesn't know about her father's other family and money is going to be tight since he can't provided any more. Yahaira is still going to school and knows about her father's other family but hasn't reached out.
