He is a brother to Sophie Scholl. He was also one of the founding members of the white rose movement. He was born in Ingersheim, Württemberg, and grew up with his five siblings. As a teen him and his siblings were apart of the hitler youth. Their parents didn't agree with hitler, so they read ban books.
