With the aging global population, the expansion of a more affluent middle class, and broader availability of mobile internet, the health care industry is rapidly changing. The associated technology is changing faster than ever before. The start of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, forced healthcare into the future. Telehealth provided a way for patients and providers to safely access and provide health care. Telehealth is a "virtual visit" with a health care provider, through a phone call or video chat. This also allows for remote patient monitoring, which lets the provider check on patient remotely. 

Below are activities and services that are possible with the help of telehealth:
* Recording measurements like food intake, vital signs, and  blood sugar levels. 
* Having a virtual visit a physician or nurse
* Using an online portal to check test results, request prescription refills, messaging a docotor or scheduling/cancelling an appointment. 
* Sharing information with all providers
* Coordinating care between primary care providers and any specialists
* Getting email or text reminders when services are due

Telehealth has become even more essential during the coronavirus  pandemic. Fears of spreading and catching the virus during in-person medical visits have led to a greater interest in, and use of, technology to provide and receive health care.
It isn't possible to do every type of visit remotely. In office visits are still required for things like imaging tests and blood work, as well as for diagnoses that require a more hands-on approach.

The security of personal health data transmitted electronically is a concern.

The Cons:
While insurance companies are increasingly covering the cost of telehealth visits during the COVID-19 pandemic, some services may not be fully covered, leading to out-of-pocket costs.

On one hand it is convenient. Being a nurse, I know typically what is wrong for basic illnesses like, a UTI, earache, bronchitis, strep throat, and allergies. So for these issues, a telehealth visit would be convenient, easy, and time saving. The younger population may be more receptive to this along with better knowledge of technology. I feel with the older population there may be skepticism around the quality of care and aspects of the patient-physician relationship. If needed, the doctor obviously cannot touch and feel via the internet.
