THE NAZIS HAVE INVADED DENMARK. BUT LISA AND HER FAMILY REFUSE TO PERISH WITHOUT A FIGHT. HER FATHER, A DOCTOR, TREATS RESISTANCE FIGHTERS IN SECRET, AND HER OLDER BROTHER STEFAN ENLISTS IN THE ANTI-NAZI MOVEMENT HIMSELF. THEN, LISA JOINS THE RESISTANCE TO SEEK REVENGE, AND SHE REALIZES THE WAR HER PEOPLE ARE FIGHTING IS A LONELY ONE AND A DEADLY ONE. THE NAZIS ARE PLANNING TO SEND ALL OF DENMARK'S JEWS TO CONCENTRATION CAMPS. LISA DESPERATELY WANTS TO PREVENT THIS. BUT CAN ONE PERSON MAKE A DIFFERENCE? ONE PERSON CAN, AND ONE NATION DID.

Theme Connections/ Summary

In this chapter, The main character, Lisa, Overheard her Parents talking about the war in Denmark. She was supposed to be sleeping instead. I can somewhat relate to this because when I am really bored and I cannot sleep at night, I sometimes can overhear my parents' conversation about Whatever stuff Adults talk about.
In the book, There is something I don't relate to but my mom does. In 1998, My mom was in a war. The conflict between Serbia and Kosovo. She said that she and her family (also she has four brothers and one sister and the youngest was a baby, including Her Mother and Father.) Escaped their home and walked into this really deep forest with a big hill. There was a house on that hill and they stayed there along with the kind people that let them stay there. Luckily, Everyone in my family survived. Another person I know that was in a war was my grandma's friend, Joyce. She was in World War 2. I do not know about what happened but i only know that.

Prediction

<del>So far, I do not have a Prediction for this book yet. Maybe somebody decides to fight back and the war is over. Honestly, I'm not sure. I'll come back on this question if I think of anything.
</del>I predict that maybe Lisa's family will do something so that Denmark will fight back. They could maybe encourage and motivate the military to fight.

Similar Books to this one:

https://www.google.com/search?q=books+about+world+war+2+in+denmark&rlz=1C1CHBF_enCA970CA970&ei=hu1vYprxOcTRtAbt3YXoCA&ved=0ahUKEwiazIGRhsH3AhXEKM0KHe1uAY0Q4dUDCA8&uact=5&oq=books+about+world+war+2+in+denmark&gs_lcp=Cgdnd3Mtd2l6EAMyBwgAEEcQsAMyBwgAEEcQsAMyBwgAEEcQsAMyBwgAEEcQsAMyBwgAEEcQsANKBAhBGABKBAhGGABQAFgAYLwCaAFwAXgAgAEAiAEAkgEAmAEAyAEFwAEB&sclient=gws-wiz&safe=active&ssui=on

It would take more than a trip to pick them up because something else is on Lisa's mind. Unfortunately, She had to lie. She grabs the laundry and talks to the guy at the counter, An old man.

Lisa feels sick and finds a bush to puke in. After she was finished, She hopped onto a streetcar. She looks through her bag casually and can feel the papers. Illegal newspaper. Two German soldiers were coming down the streetcar aisle. They looked suspicious of her. One of them looking at the laundry bag. Awkward. She made it to her stop. Shaking, quaking, terrified, Crying. At the risk of getting in trouble with the Nazis. But At least she did it.

2. Theme Connections.

A lot of the time, I like to help my mom with doing things. Not exactly like Lisa though. The baby happened to be adopted and has no relatives here and the baby's grandparents weren't able to come because they were too old. Lisa's parents were pretty sure the baby was female. Lisa's Parents decided to name the baby "Sarah" And they haven't thought of a name for if the baby was a boy because they were sure the baby was a girl. Soon, There was a light knock on the door. It was Susanne. She has no hair and only a charred frizz left. She is covered in blisters and bruises and her clothes are all ripped. Lisa's Father called the ambulance.

2.

1. Summary

Susanne runs into Lisa's room. She grabs her purse and pulled a gun out of it. She asked Lisa if she had remembered the two men that had followed Stefan. She told her that they were both dead and left Lisa realizing that Susanne shot them. Their bodies will be thrown into the sea so that way the Germans can't be sure that Susanne killed them. Soon, a German Patrol car stopped Lisa, Stefan, and an older man named Olaf. The Officers came up to their car and shoved their guns up to Olaf and Lisa's heads. Lisa immediately threw up in the car. The Officers said to take her to the hospital because of her appendix. Lisa feels a gun in her hand, hidden by her sweater. Olaf also had one too. (I'm not sure if Lisa actually shot them)

2. Questions/Predictions:

How did Lisa have that many guns inside of her floorboard? How does it even fit? I predict (This isn't a very smart prediction but this is the only one I could come up with) that she or her Family might have Killed somebody, taken and reclaimed the gun for themselves. Now, Most likely this isn't actually true but I actually can not come up with any predictions or questions right now. Also, I'm not sure if I am paying attention and understanding the book very well, but How did Susanne get her hands on the gun?

3. Theme Connections

I can somewhat relate to Lisa. When Lisa is worried she throws up. It's not when I'm anxious, but because she was in a car I felt the need to make a theme connection to that. I get car sick easily so maybe that's why she might have thrown up. I refuse to believe that the problem was her appendix and the Police officers didn't really know what was going on so they just said that "It was her appendix." That's just my honest opinion.

The Schalburg Corps. They were sitting at the table, eating. Lisa's dad tells Susanne that they are sending her away to leave Copenhagen because she wasn't Jewish or else she'd be in trouble with the Nazis. Lisa was devastated. Susanne was her best friend and wanted to be by her side at all times. Lisa's father called Susanne's aunt and uncle so that when she leaves Copenhagen, She can stay with them. They have four children and want Susanne to be their private babysitter.

2. Theme connections

This has no correlation to the book, but I guess this reminds me of when I had to leave Vancouver (just because we're moving this has no link whatsoever) and then moved here. I have no idea if my friends were sad because I moved? (This is the only connection I could think of.)

3. Questions

I didn't quite understand exactly why Susanne can't stay. I know it's because she isn't Jewish but why? (I don't understand the book as well because, in my opinion, it's a little boring.)
