The quality of the turf also means that U10s teams with their specific use of temporary goal posts, extra adults and chairs on the ground will mean that their events will be held at McIvor Reserve.

Please contact your age group coordinator to give you access to the McIvor cage to restock your 1st aid kit.

Last year we did this all on one day, but this year we'd like to know if specific age groups would like to do it earlier than after junior finals. Teams will collect and confirm jumpers are returned and nominate their preferred time to present trophies.

Teams are welcome to organise end of season social events, understanding that when they meet as a team the same child safety and reporting applies.

The award helps teach young players that while winning is nice, the important lesson is that how you play the game matters most.

How will it work:

After each match, the coach from the home team will select one player from the opposition side, who they believe embodies the true essence of the game - that being: fair play, fun, involvement, and respect for both the opposition and umpires. That player will be presented with a special Heartland Award certificate by the home club coach.

The award should not necessarily go to the best player on the day. It’s often a good idea for the host club’s coach/team manager to have a chat with the opposition coach/team manager to see if there is anyone they believe should be in contention for the award. For example, there may be a young player who’s showing improvement by kicking with his or her wrong foot, etc.

What will the player receive:

The weekly winners of the Heartland Award will receive a certificate of recognition, which includes a 10% discount on all Official Western Bulldogs merchandise from the Bulldogs Shop located at Whitten Oval. Each winner is also able to register online to win a major prize of a unique Western Bulldogs Experience.
