Because it only has two electrons, would the first ring be considered valence electrons or would only a second ring be considered valence elcectrons.</div><div>B) It is neutral because it has same number of electrons as it does protons.</div><div>C)It has a mass of four because its nucleus has two protons and two neutrons, making it four.</div>]]></description>

When drawing the atom, I had thought about and considered things like how many of each of the subatomic particles there would be in the atom I was drawing as well as where I would position them, because there are certain rules like protons can't touch each other and how many electrons would be in each shell/energy level of the atom I was drawing.<br><br></div><div><br>B. The atom I drew has a neutral charge, because I had drawn three proton and three electrons so the charges cancel out and become neutral.<br><br></div><div><br>C. The mass number of the atom I drew is approximately seven, and I figured this out by looking at my periodic table of elements.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Nitrogen Atom</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>a) In constructing my model, I basically just thought about the three most important things which are protons neutrons and electrons. I decided to go with the most common version of nitrogen so there ended up being seven of each. I then color coded each part, made a key and wrote down the charge and atomic mass and number just for reference.&nbsp;<br><br>b) The atom is neutral. In my model I show this in two ways. You can simply look at the writing at the bottom which states there is no charge or look at the diagram and infer that since there’s an equal number of protons and electrons, the atom has no charge.<br><br>c) Though the periodic table states that Nitrogen has an atomic mass of 14.007, this is only an average. Since I had the isotope of Nitrogen with equal protons and neutrons, the Atomic mass ends up being 14. &nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>HELIUM ATOM</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>a) I thought that in the nucleus there must be the neutrons and protons and around the nucleus should be the electrons. Because the atomic numbers is 2, that means that there are two protons in the nucleus and because the mass number is 4 (4-2=2) so there must be two neutrons. Because my molecule is neutral there are two electrons to valance the two positive chrges from the protons.</div><div><br></div><div>b) The atom is neutral because there are the same amount of protons and electron so their charges balance eachother.</div><div><br></div><div>c) The mass number is 4, because there are two protons and two neutrons (the electrons’ mass is considered 0 because it is really small, really close to 0).</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A. Before drawing the model, I thought about how many fundamental particles (protons, neutrons, electrons) make up the hydrogen-2 atom.&nbsp;<br><br>B. This atom is neutral because there are the same number of protons as there are electrons. This can be seen in the model and can be determined by counting the number of protons and electrons.<br><br>C. The mass number of this atom is 2 because there are exactly 1 proton and 1 neutron that make up the majority of its mass. While there is an electron in the atom, its mass is so small that in general it is not included in the atomic mass.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>A) To construct the model I thought about having the correct number of protons and electrons for the specific atom and neutrons for the atom that made sense for the element. Also I thought of how atoms are mostly empty space so that is how I drew it.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><br>B) The atom in this picture is neutral and this is shown in the picture in how there are 6 protons and 6 electrons which balance out to have a neutral charge.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><br>C) The mass number of the atom is 12 because is you add the 6 protons with the 6 neutrons you get 12 to be your mass number.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

In the model, it shows that there are an equal number of protons and electrons (2 each), so there is no charge.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><br>c) The mass number is 4. I chose to construct a helium atom, which has an atomic number of 2. This means that in the nucleus, there would be 2 protons and 2 neutrons. Since it is neutral, there would be 2 electrons.&nbsp;<br><br>b) This atom is neutral due to the number of protons and electrons being equal, therefore balancing each other out.&nbsp;<br><br>c) The mass number of my atom is 4, this is because there are 2 protons and electrons.          <description><![CDATA[<div>1) For the construction of my model and I had to think about how many protons, neutrons, and electrons I was going to have in order to make the Helium atom accurate.&nbsp;<br><br>2) This atom is neutral because this atom has&nbsp; the same amount of protons than it has neutrons which makes it have no charge.          <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Attached is my Image of a Carbon-12 atom that has a -4 charge.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><br>&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><br>1 a) I considered the fact that the sum of protons and neutrons in a Carbon-12 atom was 12, based on its mass number. Based on its atomic number, 6, I knew that it had 6 protons, and therefore 12-6=6 neutrons. Therefore I drew 6 protons and 6 neutrons within the middle of the atom, indicating they are all located in the nucleus. I intended to draw protons and neutrons of a similar size, since they have the same mass. Secondly, since the electrons are located in mostly empty, outer shells, I drew them as such, outside of the nucleus. The first shell was filled with 2 electrons, while the outer one is filled with 8 electrons. Originally a neutral Carbon-12 atom would have 6 electrons, equal to its protons, but here the C4- ion is shown with 10 electrons as it has drawn 4 electrons from another atom. The innermost shell of an atom can hold 2 electrons, whereas subsequent outer shells can each hold up to 8 electrons.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><br>1b) Here in this atom, there are 4 more than the number of electrons a carbon atom is supposed to have, therefore the -4 charge. I believe that the drawing may not reflect the fact that the C atom bonds covalently instead of ionically with other atoms, therefore it shares electrons with another atom to reach a full shell of 8 electrons, as opposed to the drawing which shows that it has gained 4 electrons.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><br>1c) The mass number of my atom is 12. My first thoughts were to figure out how many protons are contained in atom, I chose 7 neutrons because it directly fits with the average atomic mass. I know the number of electrons is directly correlated with the amount of protons so that's how I ended up with 7 electrons. 2 in the inner orbital, 5 in the outer orbitals. Now that I established what forms nitrogen, I then modeled the picture referencing the Bohr Model of the atom. The nucleus is made up of protons and neutrons and the electrons orbit it.<br><br></div><div>b) The model I drew does not have a charge. It is shown with 5 valance electrons. I also thought about the placement of the electrons around the nucleus and how to make it clear that it was the atom I was making. When making the atom, I chose to use 5 neutrons to be able to match the average atomic mass of the element.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>b. The atom is at a neutral charge. This can be seen because there is the same amount of protons as there are electrons. There are 4 of both protons and electrons.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>c. The atomic mass of my element is 9 amu. This can be seen because of the 4 protons and 5 neutrons in the nucleus of the element. Proven by the sum of 4 and 5 equaling 9.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>a) To draw my model of Beryllium (Be) I thought of a couple things. I sort of combined 2 different thoughts in order to make it. First I thought of the general description of an atom so i drew protons and neutrons in the nucleus and then electrons separately. I usually think of the Bohr model when I think of an atom so I drew 2 rings for the electrons to fit on according to how that model behaves, 2 in the first and then 2 in the second. Finally I thought about the idea of the electron cloud and decided to include that.<br><br>b) My atom is neutral as there are an equal amount of protons and electrons. 4-4=0<br><br>c)The mass number according to my model would 9.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><br>1.) </strong>The first thing I thought about when constructing my model was whether or not I was going to make it neutral or charged. This gave me a better idea of how many protons and electrons I should have in my model knowing that when an atom does not have equal protons and electrons within it, it will be charged.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><strong><br>2.) </strong>I decided to go with a neutral atom of Helium. You can see that the Helium atom model I constructed is neutral because it has an equal number of protons and electrons (2 positively charged protons and 2 negatively charged electrons).&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><strong><br>3.) </strong>The average mass number of my Helium atom is 4. Knowing that I can calculate the mass number by adding the amount of protons and neutrons that are present in the atom's nucleus, in my case 2 protons and 2 neutrons, I arrived at a mass number of 4.</div>]]></description>
