With a soft and pained groan Leonard leaned back to the sandbags which they were using to protect themselves from the enemies. He was shot, right from his left arm and his chest. He couldn't believe, he didn't want to believe this happening. He loved his life so much until he got drafted to the army as soon as he turned his 18th age. He closed his eyes and let out a shaky sigh, none of his army friends noticed he was shot and he needed help. How could they? They were also fighting for their country, their life. Leonard could swear that all of his friends wanted to leave this hellish place as soon as possible. They all had their own families, their own lives, their own goals and their own dreams. They were all army dreamers. Oh these little army dreamers, little did they know only few of them could get back to their family, make their dreams real. Who knows maybe one of them always wanted to be a rockstar but he didn't have enough money for a guitar so he joined army to earn some. Maybe someone else wanted to be a politician but the government drafted him before he couldn't finish his education. It seemed so cruel to Leonard that thousands of other lives and dreams were slipping away like a shooting stars because of the insatiable ambition of heads of state. He sighed again, he could feel his army uniform is getting wetter and wetter because of his own blood. How ironic, he was slowly waiting his death. ''Where did my dreams go?'' he asked himself and he quickly shook his head. He didn't want to be sad in his last moments. He should be grateful for his old life before of the war, shouldn't he? He thought of his lover, oh his sweet lover. He had promised himself and her to marry her after returning from the war. Leonard truly convinced himself to that he could return his home safely and start his new life with his dear future wife and child. He really wanted to be a father. That was his biggest dream, being the heroic dad of his own blood and flesh but he wouldn't even make it to his twenties. He could have been a a good parent, his mother taught Leonard how to be kind, compassionate and loving. She was his everything, his role model and he was her baby, her beautiful boy. He smiled himself, some tears were falling from his eyes, leaving wet traces on his dusty cheeks. He closed his eyes again, at least he was free now. Maybe his story would be different in another life.
