Jim is very hard working, so she wants to get him something special. The theme of story is giving gifts is more important than receiving them, the mood is depressing and sad because Della does not have enough money to buy her husband a Christmas gift.<br>Pg.247</div>]]></description>

Della’s hair means a lot to her, but she cut some of it off just to see how happy her husband would be. Della ended up making 20 dollars from her hair. “Twenty dollars,” said Madame, lifting up the mass with a practiced hand.” This will help toward the money she need to make for her husband’s gift.<br>Pg.248</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The conflict of the story is how the Young family does not have enough money to afford many things. "One dollar and eighty-seven cents. That was all."<br>More specifically Della did not have enough money to buy Jim a watch, before she cut off her hair. In addition to Della herself not having enough money to buy Jim a watch, Jim does not have much money to buy Della her gift, which is why he sells his old watch. In conclusion to the conflict, the Young family does not ave very much money and is very low income.</div>]]></description>

That being, Della gave up her hair, and Jim gave up his other watch. The happy, married Young couple gave up their prized possessions just to give one another a special gift for Christmas.</div>]]></description>
