• Students will be assessed on upper case letters, lower case letters and letter sounds.

MATH

• Rote counts from 1 to 30

• Counts 1-10 items with one to one correspondence , and identifies final number in the set

• Names the common shapes

• We can count up to 10 items.

• We know the last number we count is the total!

• Water bottle (water only). Please make certain it is a no spill cap.

• Healthy (low sugar) dry snack (pretzels, crackers or pre-cut fruit (no liquids or items that need spoon). Snack is early in the day. Cookies and candies are not allowed.

• Please label all jackets, hoodies, sweatshirts, water bottles and backpacks. We have many matching items and we want to get items to their correct child

We have families that celebrate some of these holidays in our classrooms. If you would like to share information about the holidays, please talk to your classroom teacher. We would love to learn from you!

Also, In the spring, West Memorial Elementary has the most spectacular Multicultural Evening. We invite families to share their culture with each other. We strive to have families represent countries all around the world. Often, families will bring cultural foods or items from their native country. If you are interested in participating in this awesome event, please contact Mrs. Miles at carolmiles@katyisd.org - More information will come in the spring semester!

We traveled Around the World last week We will continue to travel Around the World to learn about customs and holidays. There are so many customs and traditions to learn about next week. Our class is excited to continue our journey around the world. 

We are continuing to work on using our words when we need to express ourselves. If we are upset, we are learning how to use the calm down corner.

We will continue to travel around the world as we learn about holidays and customs that might be different than our own.

We earn class rewards by working as a class to follow directions and pay attention. We earned our behavior reward last Friday and our class is working towards our next reward in our star jar rewards.

We continue our journey around the world, exploring different cultures and holidays. We have been assessing our alphabetic, numeric and book knowledge while enjoying a few craft projects that focus on following direction and fine motor skills.
