The sun is most powerful light source.
The moon is not a light source because it reflects off the sun.

The light and dark is a result of the day and night .
During the day the light is generated by the Sun and at night their will not be light because the Sun is orbiting in the other direction.
It is harder to see in the dark , sometimes it is easier during a full moon.
