I chose the following image for my Padlet for Unit 1, because to me, the carbon cycle is one of the most important things plants have to do with on the Earth and in society. I think this image illustrates the components of this cycle very well. The process of respiration (in plants, photosynthesis), starts the whole cycle. Photosynthesis yields the organic compounds needed on Earth. This image goes further in-depth, explaining more components of the carbon cycle, including those in ocean environments. For me though, this image illustrates perfectly just how crucial plant life is to every environment on Earth, as well as our society.

Image Retrieved from: United States Carbon Cycle Science Program. 3 September, 2017. <https://www.carboncyclescience.us/what-is-carbon-cycle>

I chose this video because it of how entertaining it is while it gives you a quick but thorough lesson on photosynthesis. The speaker is sarcastic and jokes throughout the video, keeping the attention of the audience (and myself). Therefore, I think this video could help others and that students would pay attention to the information. The video tells about the entire process of photosynthesis, from light-dependent reactions to the explanation of regeneration in the Calvin cycle. It also expresses the importance of this process in the everyday life of, literally, anything that is living on Earth. I think this video would make a great tool for learning about photosynthesis.

For unit 3, I am adding the website of the Georgia Native Plant Society to my padlet. This site is dedicated to plants native to the state of Georgia, but the resources it provides on these plants are abundant. There are links to information on all these plants, plus events, workshops and speakers on the topics, and even links one can follow in order to take action to help conserve native Georgia plants. Whether you want to learn about them or get more involved, I would recommend this website to anyone inquiring about plants native to Georgia.

https://www.gnps.org/

For Unit 4 on World Biomes, I chose to investigate the taiga for my discussion. Upon researching for this Padlet assignment, I discovered that "The largest areas of ecological sensitivity and biome changes predicted for this century are found in areas with the most dramatic climate change: in the Northern Hemisphere high latitudes, particularly along the northern and southern boundaries of taiga or boreal forests" (1). This is why I chose to add a picture of the taiga biome for this assignment as well. This reputable source indicates that "ecological damage is the real climate problem", and claims that the taiga (boreal forest) is the most at risk for ecological shifts (1).

Sources:
1.) Schuttenhelm, Rolf.

NASA: climate change leads to enormous ecosystem shifts – 40% of biomes flip this century.

The First Agricultural Revolution (Neolithic Revolution) had many effects on the future of society and the world. One of these consequences was the settlement of many people in concentrated areas. I chose this image below for my Padlet for Unit 5 because it represents, to me, how we as humans developed into the society of the many, various, diverse cities that we are today. It is mind-blowing how the technology and new innovations of this era all occurred at the perfect time to spawn this revolution, and how those effects reach us still today.

Image retrieved on October 29, 2017 from <http://ccworldhistory.weebly.com/unit-1-neolithic-revolution--river-valley-civilizations.html>

Finding a picture, video or website which illustrates the emergence of a global society following the third agricultural revolution was more difficult than I imagined. However, I did find something that summarizes the 3 agricultural revolutions nicely, and goes into the most detail about the 3rd one. This is a presentation by a student (I assume) on Prezi, and it gives the audience key points on the first and second agricultural revolution, then the third movement of agriculture. This section emphasizes the boom of commercial farming, imports and exports as well as the globalization which took place during this time period (and more). I think this person did a great job with this simple but informative presentation, and I believe it could help others recall key points about how the world changed during and because of the 3rd agricultural revolution.

Source: Gentry, Jada. 3rd Agricultural Revolution. <https://prezi.com/m/6dgolrinb6mf/3rd-agricultural-revolution/>

For my Unit 7 Padlet, I have added an image with informatiom of benefits of Aloe Vera on various aspects of human health. This infographic really stuck out to me because of how many useful facts it contains. I immediately recognized the Aloe plant species in our notes and was intrigued, because I have heard of a few of the many healthy applications of Aloe Vera. The infographic attached tells the audience that Aloe Vera has a positive effect on digestion, the immune system, human skin and many other aspects of a person! The info under the bolded heading will tell the audience how the chemical aids each aspect. I think this image is great for students studying what we are in unit 7 - the medical applications of plants.

Source: <http://www.healthpedia.us/amazing-health-benefits-and-uses-of-aloe-vera-juice/>

For my Unit 8 padlet, I chose this picture from this website for very particular reasons. First, I wanted my picture to come from a website that was subjective and informative. I found this one, which lists various theories about what will happen to Earth in the future (in 1,000 years to be exact), since no one can know with a hundred percent certainty. Then, I chose this photo since it represents the impact human activity will have on the environment (others focused on human life and health). Finally, I think the picture is a realistic worry, which is another reason why I decided it was well-suited for my Unit 8 Padlet.

Image retrieved on Dec 13th, 2017 from <https://www.google.com/amp/s/brightside.me/wonder-curiosities/what-will-earth-look-like-in-1000-years-395310/amp/>
