I am reading The Disappearances by Emily Bain Murphy. When their mother dies, Aila and Miles are sent to live in her hometown with a family friend.  Every seven years, the town mysteriously loses something...
They've lost their sense of smell, their reflections, and even the ability to dream. Aila is on a mission to unravel the mystery of why the disappearances happen and what her mother may have to do with it.
As for first impressions, there are two story lines which is a little confusing at times, but the mystery is very intriguing. I am reading Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. Madeleine has never left her house. Well, not since she was diagnosed with Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID). This means she is basically allergic to everything. Madeleine sticks to tight schedules with routine checkups 8 times a day. She never really used to miss the outside until  Olly showed up. When Olly and his family move into the next door house Madeleine starts to take interest in Olly. Finally he starts to notice her too. They exchange IM's and text almost all night, every night. Her mom doesn't know. Things are starting to change. Madeleine is spending less time with her mother, she's getting bad grades and her schedule is all off. But when her mother starts to notice, she panics.  She has never really had any secrets to keep before. Should she tell her mother or keep her first secret?
So far it is a really good book and I love the authors writing style. I also like that it matches being in a global pandemic pretty well. It’s about a girl named Iris that is deaf and that loves to fix old style radios.

She is twelve years old and is a tech genius .

 Iris recently heard about a whale named Blue 55  that lost its Ability to sing with other whales. 


So she has an idea to make something for the whale so it can talk to other whales.

My first impressions of the book was that some of it didn’t really make sense but as i read more it started adding up. The book is about a girl who has moved so many times because her dad restores old houses. At the new job site she starts seeing strange things, like quick movements in the only window in the house that isn’t boarded off, family’s and kids that no one else can see but her. This series is full of mystery’s and action, although it can be confusing to read as it switches between scenes often.

While the field trip looked like it was to be a regular field trip but then things turned very odd when his teacher grew wings and tried to kill him then after that things got even weirder for Percy, he started seeing strange things, then huge lighting storms started.
