I am looking forward to learning from others' experiences across different types of schools and grade levels. I find it very valuable to learn best practices from fellow educators "in the trenches." Participating in this course will also require me to reflect on my own experiences with online teaching during the pandemic and I think it is important to take time to reflect. So often, I am caught up in my daily to-do lists and managing the details of each day that I don't take the necessary time to reflect on my practices as an educator and think big picture about the lessons learned over the past two academic years. It is important not to waste this important opportunity to really think about what we should be teaching our students and how we should be teaching as we look ahead into the next few years. We need to continue to be nimble and flexible and open to new possibilities in our educational model. I am excited to learn some more tools and to develop a final project which will be useful in my work with my students this fall.

As mentioned by Jennifer, I too, find it very valuable to hear from other colleagues about what they are doing and what is going well for them in their practices. I can then take this information and put it to good use in my own classroom. The many conversations that will be created from this forum will help me to gain more knowledge so that my curriculum is a work in progress and I can create lessons that my students will enjoy and thrive educationally.

I am hoping to learn more about the multiple platforms of delivering curriculum from this course. I have used a few but I am willing to learn more as with all; strength in numbers.

Teaching remotely was pretty lonely. I’m looking forward to seeing how other teachers did it! I’m excited to learn some new strategies, especially those related to new tech platforms that I can incorporate. I hope to get some fresh ideas for how to implement remote language arts courses; in particular, how to stay organized throughout the process, and how to differentiate for a variety of learners. I also hope to find ways to increase student participation in online lessons and assignments.

How do you predict this course might be valuable to you? I predict that I will be learning a lot from others. I also feel that this will be part of the healing process of what we all went through. It is nice to read what others are posting and see that others had the same struggles and victories that I did.
2. What are your intentions/goals for your learning in this course? While I hope that I will not need to teach online (at least for a long period of time) I want to learn as much as I can to be able to teach my students the best way possible if it ever comes to that. But I have learned that I can use many of the online tools on a day to day basis in my in-person classroom. My ultimate goal is to be able to have as many tools as possible to be able to give my students everything they need to be their best.

I work with students who have emotional and behavioral needs. I feel as though I need to lead by example. I am trying to teach them how to be prepared and organized and I can’t do that if I am not. I am also looking forward to hearing what other’s experiences are when it comes to the past year and a half of teaching.

My biggest goal is to learn how to keep my students engaged. Again, I work with students who have emotional and behavioral needs. These students struggle with staying engaged in the physical classroom. I need them to stay engaged so they don’t regress if we have to go remote.

I am a special ed teacher and have individual goal.s for each of my students in their area(s) of weakness. However, one common goal for my students is in the area of transition (education and employment). This is probably the most individualized and personal piece of teaching I do with each of them. My goal is to develop rich self-reflecting transition activities that students can access, complete, and submit remotely - even if we are completely in person.

1. I think this course will be valuable for me to be able to learn and discover new creative ways of remote learning and virtual learning for students who may learn differently. I am excited to not only learn from the course, but also connect and learn from other educators in the state. I think my population of students, although small, had a VERY hard time with remote learning and I want to best prepare myself for any future circumstance. I am excited to learn new resources, approaches, and engagements for my students and their peers.

I think there were a lot of positives that came out of remote learning and my goal is to pinpoint those positives to continue using in my teaching career.

The networking and ability to see each other's experiences and learn information from them will be very valuable. It is nice to know that I am not alone in certain struggles, triumphs, etc.
2. Two is the new content that I hope to learn. While I have become proficient in Google Meet, I still would like to learn how to do more interactive lessons online and with different platforms. Our school district did not use Zoom as we were told it was not secure and it times you out after 40 minutes. I look forward to learning new tips and sites that make learning more fun and engaging in case we do go back to full remote.
