They are made out of hydrogen and carbon. It is used mostly for fuel. Oil is a very nonrenewable resource,  we have enough oil to use for about 60-90 years! Next way is by a combustion turbine. It works by oil being burned under pressure to produce hot gasses to power a spinning turbine to generate electricity.  Using too much can produce lots of nitrogen oxide. Cons- Nonrenewable, explosive, drilling leads to spills, hurts nature, emits a lot of carbon dioxide, and we make a lot of barrels a day.
