In this Unit we were introduced into the class and were given an overview of what we are going to do in this Semester. We started with basic identification of the body. Meaning we learned about Body Planes and Directional Terms to help us describe what area of the body we are talking about. Then we learned about the Skeletal System and the different Joints and Movements (proper names for certain movements). The activity I most enjoyed from this Unit we did (besides the note-Im a big Note fan) was the gummy bear lab to help us remember the directional terms and planes. It was very yummy

In this unit we learned Basic Emergency Skills! We learned about prevention of dehydration, hypothermia, heat stroke, and other common problems that are caused from negligence and not proper caution as well as how to treat and help someone who has fallen victim to it. We also learned about the proper way to save someone that is choking or in cardiac distress. How to properly ask for help, the importance of an emergency action plan, role assignment, and having proper equipment. We did a lot of hands on learning this Unit! We practiced our CPR skills and learned how to adjust to save a variety of patients including an Adult, Child, and Infant. That lab was fun and challenging as we were able to see how effective our CPR was by looking at the screen, We also learned how to prevent the spread of disease and how to protect yourself from disease as well as clean up messes.

This was my favorite Unit from everything that we did! It was all, pretty much, hands on. In this tiny sub-unit we learned Taping Techniques, a part of Emergency Skills as well as Advanced Anatomy. We learned about different taping techniques and how to correctly perform them on other people. It was very surprising to me how difficult ripping the tape can be, but each tear was a tiny victory for me and I felt very pleased with myself every time I was successfully able to do it.

This Unit was just a bunch of Advanced Anatomy. I really like notes so this was a pretty calm unit and very nice. We did a lot of guided notes in this unit and a lot of visual notes which I enjoyed most out of this unit. We looked at Ankle Anatomy, Posterior/Anterior of the Knee, Lower Body (Foot and Leg), the Shoulder/Glenohumeral Muscles to name a few. We discussed the layout of the knee and glenohumeral joint/muscles and the movements and types of injuries that can arise. We did visual notes, which I found kinda interesting but greatly difficult because it was difficult showing the right movement (Q Angle and Injuries). We did a lot of labs as well such as the Gait Walking Lab, Geniometer Lab, and Lab for Knee Discrepancies.
