1)    An explanation of the science behind at least one form of genetic modification or biotechnology. Make sure you include some basic information. Imagine you are explaining it to yourself from two years ago.

Things to consider:

 

o   Which concepts are essential for understanding the problem or issue?

o   How can you simplify the concepts so that your readers can easily understand them?

o   Which thinking tools can you use when considering how to explain the science?

 

2)    Evaluation of how the use of science in this circumstance interacts with 2 of the following factors: social, political, economic, moral, cultural, environmental or ethical .

Things to consider:

 

o   Which thinking skills could you apply to analyse this problem or issue?

o   Which questions from the critical thinking cheat sheet could help you analyse this problem or issue?

 

3)    Correct and appropriate incorporation of scientific terms, with a specific emphasis on key terms learned in the unit.

Things to consider:

o   Remember when learning new words to explore: the etymology, the correct use of the word (not just the dictionary definition), related words or synonyms, visual cues to help remind you of the word’s meaning.

 

4)    Correct referencing. 

Things to consider:

o   All work must be referenced using MLA format. You can find instructions for using Microsoft Word to generate citations and reference lists here. Alternatively, you may use an online MLA generator such as easybib.com.

 

5)    Some pictures/other media to jazz the whole thing up (unlicensed and correctly referenced).
