Sweetgreen form relationships with local providers to craft a menu with all-organic ingredients sourced from farmers. They've got a great variety of salad options—from spicy to creamy—and whole- grain-filled bowls packed with nutrient-dense foods like quinoa, farro, avocado, shredded cabbage, beets, and leafy greens. However, the real fun happens when you mix your own salad.

Gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free… that’s the schtick at this diet-conscious Italian joint from the team behind the Macellaio RC mini-chain. Produce comes exclusively from indie artisan outfits and the kitchen rolls out plenty of decent stuff – from arancini balls and Sardinian gnocchi to surprisingly good pizzas with very thin, flat bases. To drink, there’s g-f Peroni beer as well as a selection of natural and low-intervention wines.

Although more grown up than Pachamama, this seafood- and veg-centred sibling still magics up a happening vibe. Modish Peruvian small plates play to Chelsea’s carb-avoiding crowd, while specialities along the lines of sea bass ceviche, grilled cabbage with aubergine purée or trout cooked in a banana leaf with red quinoa and mango sauce deliver knockout flavours without troubling size-zero waistbands. It hardly matters that desserts don’t quite cut it – no self-respecting calorie-conscious Chelseaite eats pudding anyway.

Dig Inn

Picture your Sunday family dinner spread, minus all the unhealthy casseroles and pies. That's essentially what it's like to eat at Dig Inn. It's a seasonal market-style eatery that offers locally sourced and reasonably priced meals. You can make your own plate by picking a base (salad or whole grain), a protein (such as steak, chicken, tofu, or salmon), and then a few sides. The sides range from roasted sweet potatoes and pan-sauteed cauliflower to crunchy summer couscous and kale and rhubarb salad. You can get an entire plate of healthy, filling food for around eight to ten bucks—even more of a reason to stop in!
