The Civil Rights movement followed by the Gay Rights Movement and The anti-Vietnam war movement were very big in the 60s. The Civil Rights movement was the biggest, people were doing sit-ins, marches, and interstate buses were desegregated. Martin Luther King Jr. did his famous "I have a dream" speech during this time period. This movement also ended in the 60s towards the end. Gay Rights Movement advocates equal rights for people in the LGBTQ+. And an end to discrimination against LGBTQ+ men and women in credit, housing, and other areas of life. 
 US citizens also didn't want to go into another war, hint Anti-Vietnam War Movement. The Space race also happened in the 60s. American football, wrestling, and baseball were big sports during this time.
