Australia-listed Donaco operates the Aristo International Hotel in Lao Kai, on the border between Vietnam and China, and the Star Vegas Resort and Club in Poife, on the border between Cambodia and Thailand.

Hui, who was appointed to Donaco's board in August, was one of two underwriters for a qualification offer in July that helped the casino group raise A$14.4 million, about $10.3 million at its current exchange rate, before the cost.

After a recent stock exercise, Mr. Huy and another acquirer, Lee Bug Tong, increased their stake in Donaco to 42.12 percent. The two investors had previously sued Donaco Group.

Mr. Huey "has extensive experience in gaming and casino management," according to the filing. He has been identified as the vice president of casinos at Star Vegas Casino and Resorts Inc., "in charge of developing slot machine business models."

In Wednesday's filing, Donaco said it had also appointed two non-executive directors based in Australia to its board of directors Andrew Phillips and Isaraya IntraPeybun. It added that Paul Fornat Amatavivadana, who joined Donaco's board in August, had been appointed as non-executive directors. All appointments will take effect Sept. 2.

Mr Amatavivadana is described as the founding principal and chief executive of INFINITE Capital, a Bangkok, Thailand-based boutique corporate advisory firm. The filing says he has "significant experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring and capital raising."

As part of the board reshuffle, Donaco's chairman Mel Ashton and non-executive director Simon Bertullo resigned from the board.

The filing quoted the new CEO as saying the company would work to confirm that the two casinos were "fully operational and borders reopened post-COVID-19."

"We will continue to execute our practical cost control strategy while updating the market to future developments," he added

Donaco said earlier this week it had narrowed its loss for the June 30 base financial year to just over A$58.9 million from A$198 million a year earlier, even as the second half of the reporting period was affected by COVID-19. The company warned in its results that ongoing travel restrictions in regions related to the pandemic had clouded its outlook for the next reporting period.
