He isn't leaving his room. And Brandon is imitating his dog, and because he doesn't want to abandon his dog, he built a fort in which he doesn't want to abandon either. He's the captain of the fort and the puppy is the guard. His mom calls him and his sister down for some food.

At the beginning of page 33, Brandon's dad comes home, and his mom asks for Katie, and him to eat together. Brandon pleades with his mom, as he is the captian of his fortress. His mom insists, so Brandon puts his puppy in his closet, and comes to eat dinner. He was worried, because the puppy will most likely make a lot of noise.

Brandon hears the dog barking then starts intimating it. Than the dad is ask why he is doing this. The mom laughs and says that Brandon is a dog as a joke. Than the dad laughs and says he has good imagination. Finally Brandon asks to go upstairs to his fort.

Brandon is not happy with his sister wanting to join him because he doesn't want anyone to know about his dog. His mom allows him to eat by himself in his fort. The dad comes home at the end.
