One strategy that I think will be the most useful in my future classroom setting is Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Universal Design for Learning assists the teacher in planning a lesson with multiple ways for the students to learn and demonstrate their knowledge. This will be helpful because it will assist the special education students without making them feel self-conscious, but it will also benefit the other students as well.

We have to adjust our lessons to accommodate for students with a variety of abilities. Language of IEPs can be very formal and sometimes difficult to understand when explaining to students.

I can relate the reading to my own experiences as a student with the pull-out programs that were used in the classroom setting. Students were often made to feel self-conscious when they were pulled out of the classroom setting. The reading shows the importance of the attitude of the teacher in making the special education student with an IEP feel included in the classroom setting.

Both roleplaying and buddies seems like the most useful strategies for social studies because there's a lot of discussion in history so it is useful in helping prepare students for those discussions

Reading the IEP and how it can be like a different language. Integrating it into the classroom. It is more work for teachers as managing the plans with the lesson can be a struggle.

We don't always have the background knowledge, resources, or time to accomodate multiple IEP's. IEP's can also have very formal language and be difficult to decipher.

Create groups for a project so students will get in a group that works well together. With those groups using UDL so they can have their own creative liberty. Making projects in SOST is a big part as then you can show what you know about the event or topic.

Sitting in on a meeting will be significantly different than talking about it in class. A connection we thought of was seeing these practices as a student and not understanding them vs. seeing them now as a teacher. Seeing how they are used and why they are used to help certain students.
