Ryan Murray
In china I think that they should change the uniform policy so that it fits in with the new cultural differences being made. I think that school uniforms should not be mandatory. My first reason for this is that many people can save lots of money not having to buy a school uniform. I also think that people might feel more comfortable wearing what they wear at home than a school uniform as well as not having to remember to bring your tie or sport uniform to school and if you loose a shoe or forget a sport shirt you can just bring another pair of shoes or a different sport shirt instead of getting in to trouble for not wearing the right pair of shoes or not having the correct sport shirt.

I think school uniforms should not be mandatory because uniforms have nothing do with education. They make us blend in. If the teachers are allowed to wear whatever they want (except for PE teachers, and within reason), then why aren’t students? Uniforms have no meaning whatsoever and the school should get rid of them. Our education doesn’t rely on having perfect uniforms. And the whole uniform infringement concept is just silly. People shouldn’t get in trouble just because their shirt is untucked. It’s just silly.

I think that school uniforms should be mandatory because they can prevent bullying. Children can't be teased or made fun of what they are wearing if they are all wearing the same thing. It also helps teachers identify who they have to look after when their class goes on excursion. It makes the students stand out more and provides a more painless experience. Finally, it can help a school maintain a high reputation if its students look smart and 'proper' in public. Whether it is on public transport or walking it allows general members of the public to identify what school they go to and feel that it is a good school.

I think that school uniforms should be more of the public school style. The issues with having no school uniform is the opportunity for a new way to determine who is popular and who isn’t by what types of clothes people wear. Also more personal property is more to damaged. But on the other side there are a few positives consequence, like it eliminates a possible way to determine who is more popular than others by using what type of clothes people wear. As well as that it is makes an easier time for the public to identify the school and help out lost students while keeping students in a more comfortable state than they would be when wearing formal uniforms.

I think the school uniform should be mandatory in China. The thing that would tell me this, is first the sport uniform. If it was not mandatory the problem is that probably half the class would not have proper gear to wear for this for example using jeans instead half the class would not have proper gear to wear for this for example using jeans instead of track suit pants. The second reason is a debate that has happened in the U.S which is about what the students wear and reactions to others around them. This is something just like a design on a shirt or what they wear. This could lead to bullying. The final thing is with a school uniform it can show school pride in it and when in public can show either way to have parents decide if they want to send they’re child there.

I don’t think school uniforms should be mandatory as they are uncomfortable and pointless. The purpose of having a school uniform is so that people can identify you as a student of a school. This could easily be replaced by having a student id card that they have to show when be asked the question what school do they go to. Having a school uniform like ours where both boys and girls have to tuck in their shirts are encouraging them to break the rules by untucking them in order to feel comfortable where’s as if you didn’t have a uniform everyone would wear comfortable clothes.

I think uniforms aren’t a bad thing but they can be improved. Uniforms should not be, People have different opinions about them like in China and Australia for many reasons. The uniforms are kind of unnecessary because it is not needed to learn and get an education ad it can cost a lot of money. Our uniforms for example don’t work well with weather and if we don’t wear them right we get a detention. Letting the students pick their clothes to wear shows how they express themselves and show their uniqueness, but if we do make uniform not mandatory their should be some rules and restrictions. Uniforms can be uncomfortable and a pain to keep in order. Even though there are some bad things about having no uniforms like bullying, there are ways to prevent small things like that.

In China, there is a debate going on about whether schools should have a school uniform or not. I couldn't watch the interview, because it wasn't working for me, but from what I gathered, I thought that China should have a school uniform. However, personal preference, think that school uniforms should be a thing, because, while non school uniforms allow for personal expression, there has to be a dress code, and I have heard many stories of people who disobey the dress code because of the fact that they think it's unfair, and it creates confusion, uncomfortableness and general overall agitation for everyone. With a school uniform, it is easy to wear and keep up. Although I would like personal expression (squids especially), I still think that uniforms keep you looking good and are easy for everyone in general.

School uniforms can be seen as a good thing because it creates a sense of unity and community in a school. It also takes control of the issue of some people wearing inappropriate clothing and also reduces the amount of bullying due to looks or clothes. They also could be consider bad because often they can be poorly made and can be bad for whatever weather their in e.g. Heat. They also reduce the freedom and individuality of people at school by forcing them to all look the same.

I don't think that school uniforms should be mandatory and the government should leave that decision to the school itself after the School Uniform Policy was adopted in 2004. However, school uniforms are often easy to identify and can be used for student safety when outside school grounds. Because they're easy to identify, it also carries the school's name. Therefore, this could put an extra burden on students when going outside because they're representing the school. School uniforms are usually uncomfortable and quite expensive because of the manufacturing costs of making unique uniforms for students and any change will affect the students and more importantly, the supplier (1.8.1). The NSW government should make school uniforms optional for public schools but students are required to wear uniforms during excursions.

There are two sides to this infamous argument. On one hand, school uniforms are in place to keep a schools students looking smart as a group, and keep them recognisable as they are representing their school. But there are so many arguments against school uniform as people want to show their individuality and personality and can’t do this because their school uniform is shadowing this. My experience with mufti days and school uniforms have drawn me to the school uniform side. I feel very self conscious and feel like people are judging me on what I wear. I also spend a lot of time picking out the outfit I will wear and I don’t want t be doing this every day of every week hope that people will like what I wear.

I think school uniforms should not be mandatory. They have there positives and negatives. One of the negatives is that the school uniform might have a lot of components making it hard to change and uncomfortable. Another negative is that some schools force you to wear many layers this means that it will be very hot during summer. This will cause some people to over heat and get sick easier. With school uniform people know what school you go to. This is good and bad. It's bad because people can stalk you but it's good if you do something good people will think your school is a good school.

I believe that students should not be forced to wear uniforms but still have a choice. Uniforms have many advantages such as diminishing the economic barrier between students especially girls which is reflected on what they wear. Students can also be identified in public if they are in trouble through their uniform. The public can also determine what school the student belongs to. However this can also put stress on the students since they always have to be well groomed. I believe that students should be allowed to choose whether they want to wear a uniform or not because they may feel more comfortable wearing other clothes while some students may want a more comfortable and affordable outfit to wear.

I think that school uniforms shouldn't be mandatory but they should have a choice to be worse or not. This is because they can be very expensive and some people might not be able to afford the, but some parents may also want their kids to wear the uniform just in case they get lost on an excursion they can be easily located and everyone around them will know what school they are from. Sometimes school uniforms are very uncomfortable and the students could concentrate better if they didn't have any uniform on. Also the school wouldn't have to spend as much time telling students to fix their uniform.

In China there is currently debates going on about whether or not school uniform should be mandatory. I think they should not be mandatory as they do not affect your education. Whether you are wearing a school uniform or not the education is still the same. Also, if you do have uniforms they should not restrict you from doing certain activities, such as for girls doing sport.

I believe that school uniforms do not have to be mandatory. A student representing the school in public could be one reason for the school wanting their students to wear a uniform, but the risk of a student misbehaving and the public making the assumption that the school is bad is a risk that the school can take. Another reason that schools shouldn't have uniforms is that not all students may be able to afford everything that the school needs you to buy thus closing options of some schools to students who aren't able to afford. (That's a fair assumption – however, public schools are free, there are no tuition fees, unlike schools like SACS. Therefore, uniforms are one of the few costs that are required of parents to pay for. Low SES area families are able to gain tax benefits and subsidies that can help assist with the cost of uniforms and textbooks. Uniforms (depending on their durability) can be worn for upwards of two to three years and public school uniforms often do not have any difference in the year level (no changes between juniors and seniors), therefore would not an annual cost. Can you continue this thought a little further considering this information?)

I think that school uniforms should not be mandatory because they annoy the majority of students (not me). The do not aid education in any way, and could possibly hinder education because they might make the student feel uncomfortable, which is not an ideal environment for learning. However, they do help represent schools.

School uniforms in schools should not be mandatory because it is not cost effective at all, especially at a school like this that is fairly expensive if you count up all of the equipment such as: iPads, books, uniforms, and equipment for some subjects. Blazers alone at this school cost 800 dollars. That money could buy enough clothes that could last you at least 2 weeks before you would need to do any washing. This can potentially be a big problem for some families, especially with the already existing financial strain of having one or more children that parents have to spend a few thousand dollars a term for just school wen it could be halved by not having a uniform.

I think school uniforms should be mandatory. Think of everyday waking up and having to think of a new outfit for each day while trying to keep up with the trendy outfits. The main reasons for people being bullied is not fitting in and if a person didn't wear the most trendy clothing or style they could get bullied. There are many cases of students being bullied for their looks depending on their race or clothes. School uniforms ensure safety for students such as, for girls, having their hair up prevents it getting caught in machinery during classes. School uniforms help teachers find their students so that they don't wander on excursions, get lost and more. If students can't find their school, it would be easier to find them if they had a school uniform than if they didn't. During an emergency it would be vital to wear a school uniform, it could even save a life. Therefore I think school uniforms should be mandatory because they ensure safety and prevent bullying.
