This is a great quote because for the entire book, David wants to get revenge on Steelheart for killing his father. If David hadn't had such a drive to get revenge, he would have never turned out to be the person he is now. David realizes at the end of the book that it wasn't just the fact that Steelheart killed his father and and he was upset and wanted Steelheart dead, his father had dreams of doing something good with his life and he thought that heroes would come to save everyone. David thinks about this after he finally kills Steelheart and he hasn't been spending half his life researching how to destroy the bad guys just because they killed his father, he did it because they killed his fathers dreams and now he wants to fulfill them, and he succeeded.

Book Review from Common Sense Media

STEELHEART upends the usual superpowers setup, presenting a world in which the bad guys have already won and there seem to be no heroes willing to stand up to them. David and his fellow Reckoners devise elaborate plans to depose Steelheart and his minions; the action scenes are vivid and full of tantalizing twists. Author Brandon Sanderson's fantasy scenario has great potential: Although this book reaches a satisfying resolution, it's clear readers will have plenty more wrinkles to explore in forthcoming volumes. Fans of X-Men and Batman will rejoice.

This review was correct when it says the scenes are vivid, it has very good imagery on almost every page. It also has many plot twists right up until the end of the book and it is hard to predict exactly what will happen. The book does have a great ending and a second book is not needed to continue, but the author Brandon Sanderson made this series a trilogy. It has a lot of action like Batman or X-Men but it is more like X-Men in the way that they both have creative superpowers in them.

This is a symbolic image because it represents a historic event in the book. The image looks a lot like a scene describe at the beginning of the book when the first major event happened, the most powerful superhuman in the world named Steelheart turned the entire city of Chicago into steel. This scene is the only reason the rest of the book happens because when Steelheart attacked a bank, the main character David and his father were in that bank. Davids father shot Steelheart and revealed his weakness, so Steelheart killed everyone in and around the bank then sank it underground to conceal his weakness. He then turned the city into steel to show that he was in charge now. If that had happened anywhere else, David will not have so much hate to want to kill Steelheart and he would have never joined the hidden group of repels called the Reckoners.

The book starts with a flashback of David and his father in a bank 10 years ago. This is where the whole story starts, when Steelheart takes over Chicago and David finds out his secret. This is the most important, if not the most important scene in the entire book. Without that memory, the reader would have no idea why David was so focused on the hidden group of rebels called the Reckoners and on killing Steelheart. Without the flashback, the reader would have no idea on why the entire city of Chicago is made of steel and is now called Newcago.

This is another great quote because David has seen Steelheart get hurt before and it was caused by David's dad which is even more important for him. After Steelheart destroyed the bank, he killed everyone in and around it so there would be no witnesses, except for David. David realizes that he is the only person in the world who has this crucial information about Steelheart and spends ten years of his life researching him and other super humans on how to kill them. The information on Steelheart and other super humans is the only reason the hidden group of rebels called the Reckoners let him join there team.
