Causes

The Rif War began due to the mistreatment by the colonists in the Rif region of Morocco. The region had been under the control of the French and Spanish colonies for many years and under their control the people had their resources and land taken from them. Through the years the tensions between the Moroccan people and the colonists began to rise into armed conflict.
