During this quick image making exercise, I was thinking about how to use geometric shapes to express ideas, the visual effect of geometric shapes, how I should 'play' with geometric shapes, and I found that it could not only be used to express an object, but also to express my emotions, memories, atmosphere, texture. I explored that these things that I thought were vague and difficult to express figuratively could be expressed by me using geometric shapes.

Here I used real bread that had expired and pressed it on the Gelli Plate to create texture, small textures, folds on the surface of the bread, and the printed effect showed the realism of the bread, but not as solid as the real bread,
which is what I chose to print on according to the unique characteristics of Gelli Plate. I also experimented with printing the real bread with the geometric shapes I created, and the result was interesting in that it was flat, but with the thickness of a solid loaf of bread. Here I compare the different visual effects by experimenting with colour printing and basic black ink printing, and I can see that the black ink is more expressive of the surface texture of the bread and even prints the powdery surface of the bread.

ketches, here I show how the project started with me analysing my areas of interest using mind mapping, and outlining what I thought would work in relation to the Donna Wilson brand, with the idea that it would resonate with the brand, but not lose my strong personal identity. Coincidentally, I saw a pendant kosher toy hanging from my student's card, and I thought of bread as a food I love to eat, and it comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes, so I drew a lot of bread with simple lines, and I also thought the tools for making bread were interesting because they were all relevant to me, and there was a story to tell, so I drew them all and continued to explore the possibilities for more expression.

I drew the design when making my a2 board (I was planning to go to Bench and Laser Cut Workshop but it was too crowded to make an appointment) I learnt in Studio Lab how to pick the most expressive image, learnt to streamline my work when there is no opportunity for presentation, not to mislead the client with complicated work, and that when the client browses through my A2 board he can see my key points at a glance. Seeing my clear presentation, I considered these to create my A2 presentation board. I chose black foam board to allow me to save effort in the binding process, I used pins to hold them in place so that they would stand up, and tugged and pulled with clear fishing line to secure my origami.

I told
myself to try to express them in the most direct and simple geometric shapes, I learnt that expression, I don't want 3D, including the same for the bread tools. The first thing I tried was Monoprint machine printing,I used the colour website that Ching-Li gave me and Emily to make me think about the mood and taste when I eat bread, based on the colours of these papers, I randomly placed the cut-outs and printed them in two or three layers, I was very satisfied with the result, I didn't have to calculate the placement and the relationship between light and dark, but let them overlap and the randomness that comes with it is also very interesting to me.

I used to learn new knowledge or techniques at the beginning of a project when I had a basic idea, when I was thinking about how to express the idea and when I was researching and exploring the visual expression of the graphic to give me some new inspiration in terms of expression and visual effect.

There is the effect of light and dark interlacing, gelli plate can print the sense of texture, any small texture, details, touch, after a layer of printing to take away the darker colours, and then repeat the printing of the second layer when the appearance of different shades of layers, the randomness of printing, all of these let me see more possibilities, playability.

For the Donna Wilson project, it started with a love of bread I studied the shape, texture, grain, cross-section, how it tasted, how I felt when I ate it, the flavour and so on, and I found that breads are born differently in different countries/cultures, and I thought to myself that is it the cultural background, the history that makes them different and varied? Then they are all flour in the beginning, it is the different cultures and history that create different and diverse breads, just like us, we are all born the same from our mother's womb, it is the different cultures that make us different. During the course of this project I explored the expression of colours, shapes and textures, the printing process of Monoprint, and I also experimented with origami for the window displays, as I wanted to work with graphics I explored the unique folding and shading effects that origami brings.

I want to study the expression of flat geometric images, express 3D objects through geometric shapes, and this book just let me see the geometric tiling diagrams before making a 3D object, and I found out that the composition of a 3D object is built by using many geometric surfaces, folding, cutting and pasting them in different ways and methods. The visually stunning effect that made me very interested in geometric representations.

no matter how it is folded, the areas created after folding, even the shadowed surfaces brought about by the folding, all of it is geometric, which is very interesting, and I explored special visual effects that only the craft of origami can bring about, all of these made me see the infinite possibilities of visual expression.

I learnt in Studio Lab how to pick the most expressive image, learnt to streamline my work when there is no opportunity for presentation, not to mislead the client with complicated work, and that when the client browses through my A2 board he can see my key points at a glance. Seeing my clear presentation, I considered these to create my A2 presentation board. I chose black foam board to allow me to save effort in the binding process, I used pins to hold them in place so that they would stand up, and tugged and pulled with clear fishing line to secure my origami.

Through my preliminary exploration and learning of origami techniques, I thought about how I could use my thematic concepts in conjunction with them. I think about the distribution of flour, when making bread, sprinkling more in some places and less in others, and how this sparseness can be expressed in origami. In the extensive practice of origami, I observe the relationship between the surfaces that origami brings about, the almost regular folding but the ability to make different shapes. I like the traces left by the folding that express the distribution of the flour sprinkled during the making of the bread, the density and sparseness, sometimes regular and even, sometimes haphazard. In addition, I also observe the structure, the 3D, the natural appearance of the shadows, the regular arrangement of geometric shapes, which makes me think about how to combine them in the window display, to create and explore the space. More pictures of the process & printing experiments are presented in the blog Finished paper folding :

The first thing I tried was Monoprint machine printing,
I used the colour website that Ching-Li gave me and Emily to make me think about the mood and taste when I eat bread, based on the colours of these papers, I randomly placed the cut-outs and printed them in two or three layers, I was very satisfied with the result, I didn't have to calculate the placement and the relationship between light and dark, but let them overlap and the randomness that comes with it is also very interesting to me.

After participating in Monoprint's Induction, we presented everyone's work, and we were all using simple graphics to express ourselves, and I was learning by looking at other people's work, communicating with their work, and learning the ability to express myself graphically.

there are many different forms of origami. Unlike the previous book, it shows how origami can be cut in a simple and regular way, but can be 'played with' to express the beauty of dynamic flow. When the artist used the same method of cutting and folding but with different volumes of origami to express himself, it gave me a very different feeling, and I thought that I could express myself differently by changing the size or the degree of folding in my creations, and based on this, I made a lot of different attempts to convey different and varied visual effects and emotions. I have learnt and realised the power of these expressions, and will be experimenting a lot with them and combining them with my own ideas to empower them.
