We are doing anything we want to do. We can go wherever we go. It was the BEST. But all of a sudden, everything changed. COVID -19 changed everything. One of the most affected part of our lives was the school. The face to face class turned into Online classes, modular lessons, and no more face to face interaction between us and our student. Before the pandemic I remember, delivering speeches, recitation, group games, individual games, hands-on activities using the computers are the activities my students liked best. They hate quizzes, long test, art classes, and long lectures. I missed all their happy faces when they enjoyed the activities even their silly reactions if they don't. My students liked it best when we go outside the classroom to do activities for physical education.

Reason:

From what I see, it provides them an avenue for play. Also, there are many things that my students were able to do outside that they cannot do inside their classrooms.

Dislike:

My students dislike it the most when we do written assessments. Though they do not say it, it is very much obvious that they are not enjoying it.

Reason:

The reasons are that they are too conscious of the result, they do not appreciate the purpose of the assessment, and that they were not listening during the lecture thinking that they will fail even before taking the exam.

This new norm , students like interactive games (GAMIFICATION) especially in Priming part/motivational part of our lesson). Creative group game encourages students to work together and visualize academic concepts in an abstract way. Some digital game and Play the role of some interesting story , delivering speeches even if they are nervous but it's very self fulfilling in their part, they conquered their fears in facing the audience/stage fright.

Since we made use of interactive lessons coupled with active learning strategies in all subject areas, the students were given chances to learn through lectures as starters, then become informed and were able to participate in activities that keep them engaged and did performance tasks required by certain subject areas. During the non-face to face times, the learners were taught first using the modular approach, both printed and digitized modules. Then, the use of blended learning (online and offline) was adopted. Synchronous and asynchronous methods were also applied. Towards the end of the S.Y. 2020-2021, cross-curricular integration with integrative assessment was enhanced by the school from a Division initiative. They can freely brainstorm and they feel empowered when they are able to share their ideas and contribute to the target goal of the group.

-A lot of students hate writing tasks but if they are given interesting topics and would be encouraged to compose their works creatively by including graphic organizers, images, and allow them to use digital tools they deem appropriate, you would be surprised and amazed with the outputs that they can come up with.

-Discussions with ppt presentation, videos, audio-recording and the use of other digital tools that can enhance the presentation of the lesson

It seems they like those which are engaging and at the same time requiring collaboration.
Nevertheless, they least liked activities involve reporting, analyzing and solving word problems, taking assessments. Perhaps they do not prefer those which are more serious activities. They rather choose the ones which are more fun for them.

The activity that was least liked was delivering speeches in front of the class for our Oral Comm subject.

Spoken Poetry - The students were given the freedom to choose their topics, and they were even more excited and were willing to present/read their poems in class.

Writing quotations based on a photo - Several pictures were posted on the board, and the students wrote excellent quotations based on these photos. "Hugot lines" was even allowed at the end of the session. The quotations were posted on the board for everyone to read.

They were given different roles in the activities , and that excites them .

Our learners are mostly people smart. They enjoy collaborative work especially when the tasks are about group performances (spoken poetry, role playing, and most especially dances). They do it even better when they are to compete with other groups. They are very creative so I guess that is one reason as well.

DISLIKES. They don't like reading.
