First of all, I´d like you to introduce you to the lovely country Australia. The Commonwealth of Australia is a sovereign country comprising the mainland of the Australian continent, the island of Tasmania and numerous comprising smaller islands.
The kangaroo and the emu were chosen to be the two animals on the Australian Coat of Arms, because they can´t walk backwards, reflecting the forward-thinking culture.
Australia is a federal parliamentary constitutional monarchy with Elizabeth II at its apex as the Queen of Australia , a role that is distinct from her position as monarch of the other Commonwealth realms. The Queen is represented in Australia by the Governor- General at the federal level and by the Governors at the state level, who by convention act on the advice of her ministers.

In Australia there are living 25 million people on a total area of 7,692,024 km². Nevertheless, its population density, 2.8 inhabitants per square kilometre, remains among the lowest in the world. There are even three times more sheep than people in Australia! 90% of the population lives on the coast, because the majority of the interior is a desert.
Australia´s capital is Canberra although the largest and most popular city is Sydney, which is highly populated. The people who live in Sydney are called Sydney- sider. Cities like Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide are also major metropolitan areas.

60,000 years before the British settlement in the late 18th century Australia was inhabited by indigenous Australians, also known as the Aborigines, which language can be classified in about 250 groups.

Australia is the oldest, flattest and driest inhabited continent, with the least fertile soils. It´s a megadiverse country that gives a wild variety of landscapes, with deserts in the centre, tropical rainforest in the north- east and mountain ranges in the south- east.

Australia generates its income from various sources including mining- related export, telecommunications, banking and manufacturing. The country ranks highly in quality of life, health, education, economic freedom, civil liberties and political.
Australia is a member of the United Nations, G20, Commonwealth of Nations, ANZUS, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), World Trade Organization, Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation, Pacific Island Forum and the ASEAN Plus Six mechanism.
Voting in elections in Australia is compulsory. It means that you don´t have a choice to vote if you are 18 years of age or over. Australian who don´t vote have to pay a 72$ initial fine.
Australia is the second country in the world to grant women the right to vote in 1894, although the Aboriginal Culture women aren´t permitted to play the didgeridoo. In 1901 Australia officially became a federation.
Funny about Australian laws is that only licensed electricians are legally allowed to change a lightbulb.

In Australia there are three different types of child care, that I´d like to introduce you:
Because of the landscape and the fact that only 10% of the population live in the interior, there is the option to oversee your child home- based, which is having your child cared for by a friend, relative, Au- Pair or nanny in your home. This options benefits because of the flexible childcare. The care can be coordinated with the working hours of the parents.

Another option is the family day care with a small group of children in an approved carer´s home. The childminder is often monitored and organised by the Council.

The third option is centre- based care, like long day care, preschools or kindergartens with trained stuff and structured program.
In Australia it is common to use the more informular care- for example, help from friends, relatives or nannies- than other types of child care.
The child care or the childhood education and care is designed for children aged up to five years. There are options that supervise children before- school, after- school for primary school- age children, which is called outside school hours care an can be compared to our OGS.
The National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and Care (NQF) evolved a standard approach to the regulation and quality assessment of education and child care services and sets a benchmark for the quality of education and care services.
The state and territory regulatory authorities are responsible for administering the NQF.
The Early Years Learning framework (EYLF) describes the principles, practices and outcomes that support and enhance young children´s learning from birth to five years of age and the transition to school. Furthermore the framework offers a vision where "all children experience learning that is engaging and builds success for life“ has been designed so that the early childhood services will be able to develop their own strategies to implement its objectives.
The framework "My Time, Our Place" for School Age Care makes care services for school aged children better, because it developes opportunties to participate in leisure and play- based activities that respond to their needs, interests and choices. The Australian Government thinks that "all children have the best start in life to create a better future for themselves and for the nation".

If parents decide to engage child care in kindergarden or other centre based care they have the oppurtunity to get a Child Care Rabate. It is for permanent Residents and australian citizen and gives a grant up to 50% of the entertainment costs. The maximum is 7.500$ per year. Since 2019 the child care subsidy is paid to the providers. The change to the annual cap makes child care more affordable for most families. To have a better vision of the cost of a child care I list you some excamples:

Age 0-12 Month - $170,00
Age 13- 24 Month - $170,00
Age 25- 35 Month - $158,00
Age 36 Month - Preschool Age - $148,00
The price is for a day and includes Nappies, Breakfast, Morning tea, Lunch and Afternoon tea.
The child care schedule is from 7:00h to 18:00h.

Australians, or Aussies, are irreverent. They greet their boss with "G´day, mate" and toss swear words around the table like salt and pepper. Furthermore Australians are egalitarion, which means everyone should be given an equal opportunity. This believe is also shown in the public funded education and healthcare system.
Australia has no uniform national culture, because one quarter of the Austarlians were born overseas. The diversity is because of the migration.
The vibrant multiculurtalism can also been seen in austrlia´s eating habits. They doesn´t share one cohesive cuisine, but Kangaroo always finds a way onto the menu, in the form of a steak or saussage, also known as "kanga bangers". But it isn´t condemnable because there are twice as much kangeroos in Australia than the population.
Furthermore, Australians love to drink. Australia is the third booziest country outside Europe.
If you are a sport´s lover Australia is your paradise. The layed back Australians get very serious when it come to sports. Australia is known for the Australian Open tennis, the Formula One Grand Prix in Melbourne, the local leagues like the AFL and the NRL, the summer of cricket and the water sports.
Australians are very tolerant an Australia is one oft the most open- minded nation on Earth.

I really liked about your blog that you told a lot of facts about different kinds of care and support in the australian system of education.
