Digital citizenship is when you engage the community with the use of technology. Connecting to your audience as a teacher is super important in order to get your students to learn. Learning about the surrounding around yourself and especially at a young age will set you up for success in the future. I think that teaching digital citizenship is super important in the idea that students are surround by so many things that happen in their life. Us as teachers are suppose to guide these students to their full potential. Students are looking as us to teach them in ways that they cannot image and we are their role models. It is important to be set as an example and put them in the right direction in order to succeed.

Here is a video that is related to the topic and discuss with the assignment. This shows that having the knowledge that sometimes people are not what they are is important for young teenagers to understand. It is also important to teach them this because some students may never get the talk and might lead to something horrible happening.

Have students pair up with one another and have them talk about how much information they share on social media. Have them think of a time where they had a conversation with someone that they did not know of, have never met in person and ask them how much of their real self did they share?

Have the students share with one another around them and tell them that the online self could be different from their in person self. Tell them that this is normal, but could also be risky and here is how.

Older people sometimes disguise themselves into being someone they are not. They can use this to find ways to make you feel uncomfortable or send you things that you would not want to anyway. This is called grooming and it involves the idea of red flagging. In this exercise, I want my students to understand that not everyone that you met online is your friend and that you have to be careful to not put yourself in any harm. It is important to understand that whoever you are texting that they can use that information against you, even if you think that they are your friend.

In this exercise I wanted students to become more knowledge in the idea of people's red flags online. Being smart and mindful of the situation is the first step to keeping yourself safe.
